Genetic Modification of Bergera koenigii for Expression of the Bacterial Pesticidal Protein Cry1Ba1

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
The curry leaf tree, Bergera koenigii, is highly attractive to the Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri, which vectors the bacterial causative agent of citrus greening or huanglongbing disease.

Genetics of Follicular Lymphoma Transformation

open access: yesCell Reports, 2014
Follicular lymphoma (FL) is an indolent disease, but 30-40% of cases undergo histologic transformation to an aggressive malignancy, typically represented by diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The pathogenesis of this process remains largely unknown.

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

Constitutive Overexpression of a Conifer WOX2 Homolog Affects Somatic Embryo Development in Pinus pinaster and Promotes Somatic Embryogenesis and Organogenesis in Arabidopsis Seedlings

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Although full sequence data of several embryogenesis-related genes are available in conifers, their functions are still poorly understood. In this study, we focused on the transcription factor WUSCHEL-related HOMEOBOX 2 (WOX2), which is involved in ...

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

Leaf rust resistance in wheat and interpretation of the antifungal activity of silver and copper nanoparticles

open access: yesScientific Reports
Wheat production is jeopardized by Puccinia triticina, the pathogen responsible for wheat leaf rust. This study assessed the impact of silver (Ag) and copper (Cu) nanoparticles (NPs) on the control of wheat leaf rust disease and the underlying mechanisms
