CAR‐T‐cell products in solid tumors: Progress, challenges, and strategies

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine
T cells engineered to express chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) with specificity toward tumor cells have led to promising outcomes in patients with hematological malignancies. Nevertheless, the application of CAR‐T cell therapy in solid tumors encounters

Distributed classifier based on genetically engineered bacterial cell cultures

open access: yes, 2014
We describe a conceptual design of a distributed classifier formed by a population of genetically engineered microbial cells. The central idea is to create a complex classifier from a population of weak or simple classifiers.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

CASP5 associated with PANoptosis promotes tumorigenesis and progression of clear cell renal cell carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Cell International
Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a globally severe cancer with an unfavorable prognosis. PANoptosis, a form of cell death regulated by PANoptosomes, plays a role in numerous cancer types.

A Forward-Design Approach to Increase the Production of Poly-3-Hydroxybutyrate in Genetically Engineered Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Biopolymers, such as poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (P(3HB)) are produced as a carbon store in an array of organisms and exhibit characteristics which are similar to oil-derived plastics, yet have the added advantages of biodegradability and biocompatibility ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Detection of genetically modified plant products by protein strip testing: an evaluation of real-life samples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The determination of the presence of genetically modified plant material by the detection of expressed genetically engineered proteins using lateral flow protein strip tests has been evaluated in different matrices. The presence of five major genetically
