Use made of wild legume relatives in breeding

open access: yes, 2010
Presently vast genetic resources are available for improvement of the main crops used by humans and animals. The ex-situ collections safeguard those resources collected in the past, although not all collections are safe even today as far as personnel and

Gut Mycobiota‐Associated Tryptophan Catabolites Protect Against Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.

A 3D In Vitro Model of the Human Hepatobiliary Junction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A 3D human organoid platform reconstructs the hepatobiliary junction between primary adult hepatocytes and intrahepatic cholangiocytes. These adult hepatobiliary organoids (aHBOs) support directional bile transport from canaliculi to ductule‐like structures, enable quantitative imaging of junction dynamics, and reveal cell‐type‐specific vulnerabilities

Hepatocyte PIEZO1 Negatively Regulates Lipogenesis and Ameliorates MASLD by Sensing Membrane Tension and Activating AMPK

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatocytes are subjected to increased membrane tension along with lipid accumulation. Loss of PIEZO1 exacerbates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. Activation of PIEZO1 alleviates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. PIEZO1 negatively regulates de novo lipogenesis through activation of CaMKK2‐AMPK pathway. ABSTRACT Liver is a central organ for lipid

Development of Isogenic Restorer Line in Extra Long Staple Cotton Variety Suvin [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2010
Cotton is the most important commercial crop of India and heterosis in cotton is well documented with 7 to 50per cent heterosis in interspecific (G. hirsutum x G.

Mechanostimulatory Cues Determine Intestinal Fibroblast Fate and Profibrotic Remodeling in a Physiodynamic Human Gut‐on‐a‐Chip

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A healthy gut barrier shields underlying fibroblasts from luminal shear forces, illustrating that “good fences make good neighbors.” Barrier damage exposes fibroblasts to shear stress, inducing cell death and the emergence of stress‐adapted, profibrotic fibroblasts. Sustained shear exposure promotes the formation of stiff aggregates of mechanoadapative

Transcriptome analysis reveals the potential lncRNA-mRNA modules involved in genetic male sterility and fertility of Chinese cabbage (brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis)

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a crucial role in regulating gene expression vital for the growth and development of plants. Despite this, the role of lncRNAs in Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L. ssp.

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.
