Genistein affects histone modifications on Dickkopf-related protein 1 (DKK1) gene in SW480 human colon cancer cell line. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Genistein (GEN) is a plant-derived isoflavone and can block uncontrolled cell growth in colon cancer by inhibiting the WNT signaling pathway. This study aimed to test the hypothesis that the enhanced gene expression of the WNT signaling pathway ...

Genistein Prevents Nitric Oxide Deficiency-Induced Cardiac Dysfunction and Remodeling in Rats

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2021
Genistein is an isoflavone found in soybeans. This study evaluates the protective effects of genistein on Nω-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester hydrochloride (L-NAME)-induced hypertension, cardiac remodeling, and dysfunction in rats.

A nanoplatform that induces dual‐amino acid deprivation to reverse tumor immunosuppression and enhance metabolic immunotherapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
ZIF‐8‐based nanoparticles co‐delivering CB‐839 (glutaminase inhibitor) and 1‐MT (IDO1 inhibitor), dual‐targeting glutamine/tryptophan metabolism to induce immunogenic cell death, activate STING, block kynurenine production, reverse immunosuppression, and enhance cancer immunotherapy to suppress primary/distant tumors.

Transfersomes with core and surface‐loaded NF‐κB p65 siRNA for enhanced transdermal transfection and effective treatment of psoriasis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
TCPL, a transfersome with Tween 80 and PEI, enables efficient transdermal siNF‐κB delivery, resolving PEI's toxicity issue. It promotes lysosomal escape and effective transfection, silences NF‐κB, modulates immunity, and inhibits angiogenesis, alleviating psoriasis. With good biocompatibility, TCPL holds strong clinical translation potential. Schematic

Genistein induces apoptosis of colon cancer cells by reversal of epithelial-to-mesenchymal via a Notch1/NF-κB/slug/E-cadherin pathway

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2017
Background Genistein has been known to inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis in several kinds of cancer cells. While knowledge of genistein in regulating epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) of colon cancer cells is unknown.

A New Vista of Opportunity in Diabetes Management: Natural Product‐Based β‐cell Preservation

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Preserving functional β‐cells via natural products offers promising strategy for diabetes treatment. ABSTRACT A defining characteristic of diabetes is β‐cell failure, in which β‐cells cannot modulate insulin secretion to compensate for escalating insulin resistance, pushing forward disease development.

Genistein Targets STING-Driven Antiviral Responses

open access: yesmBio, 2022
Cytoplasmic detection of DNA by cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) synthase (cGAS) is an essential component of antiviral responses. Upon synthesis, cGAMP binds to the stimulator of interferon (IFN) genes (STING) in infected and adjacent cells through intercellular ...

Research progress on the role of inflammatory mediators in the pathogenesis of epilepsy

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 44-58, Spring 2025.
In the central nervous system, activated immune cells lead to the overproduction of inflammatory mediators through the corresponding signal pathway. Under the stimulation of inflammatory factors, neuroinflammation ultimately occurs. Overexpression of inflammatory mediators and activated immunocytes plays an important role in the emergence and ...
