Molecular Genetic Influences on Normative and Problematic Alcohol Use in a Population-Based Sample of College Students [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Genetic factors impact alcohol use behaviors and these factors may become increasingly evident during emerging adulthood. Examination of the effects of individual variants as well as aggregate genetic variation can clarify mechanisms ...

Validation of a Genetic Risk Score Combined With Clinical Variables for Predicting Pulmonary Fibrosis in Early Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a severe extra‐articular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study aimed to externally validate a genetic risk score (GRS) and a combined risk score (CRS) for predicting the risk of RA‐associated PF in an independent cohort of patients with early RA.

Integrating transcriptome-wide study and mRNA expression profiles yields novel insights into the biological mechanism of chondropathies

open access: yesArthritis Research & Therapy, 2019
Background Chondropathies are a group of cartilage diseases, which share some common pathogenetic features. The etiology of chondropathies is still largely obscure now.

Exploring the novel SNPs in neuroticism and birth weight based on GWAS datasets

open access: yesBMC Medical Genomics, 2023
Objectives Epidemiological studies have confirmed that low birth weight (BW) is related to neuroticism and they may have a common genetic mechanism based on phenotypic correlation research.

Decoding Human Placental Cellular and Molecular Responses to Obesity and Fetal Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Women with obesity often deliver large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants. Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of term placenta reveals that hypoxia and TNF‐α signaling in syncytiotrophoblasts are featured in maternal obesity, but inflammatory signatures in Hofbauer cells and response to lipid or carbohydrate metabolism in fibroblasts are specific to LGA.

Genome-Wide Association Studies of Maize Seedling Root Traits under Different Nitrogen Levels

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Nitrogen (N) is one of the important factors affecting maize root morphological construction and growth development. An association panel of 124 maize inbred lines was evaluated for root and shoot growth at seedling stage under normal N (CK) and low N ...

Nonsyndromic cleft palate:An association study at GWAS candidate loci in a multiethnic sample [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Nonsyndromic cleft palate only (nsCPO) is a common and multifactorial form of orofacial clefting. In contrast to successes achieved for the other common form of orofacial clefting, that is, nonsyndromic cleft lip with/without cleft palate ...

Adenylyl Cyclase 8 in Dorsal CA1 Neurons Prevents Depressive‐Like Behaviors by Maintaining Neuronal Excitability and Glutamatergic Neurotransmission Through TIP39‐PTH2R Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Depression, a prevalent neuropsychiatric disorder with unclear pathogenesis, involves dysfunctional adenylyl cyclase 8 (Adcy8) as a key risk factor. Chronic stress selectively reduces Adcy8 expression in the dorsal CA1 (dCA1) neurons. Depletion of Adcy8 in dCA1 excitatory neurons induces depressive‐like behaviors by impairing neuronal excitability and ...

Genome-Wide Association and Transcriptome-Wide Association Studies Identify Novel Susceptibility Genes Contributing to Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2022
Background. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is among the most common cancers diagnosed worldwide. Although genome-wide association studies have effectively identified the genetic basis of CRC, there is still unexplained variability in genetic risk. Transcriptome-

Genetic associations with childhood brain growth, defined in two longitudinal cohorts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) are unraveling the genetics of adult brain neuroanatomy as measured by cross-sectional anatomic magnetic resonance imaging (aMRI). However, the genetic mechanisms that shape childhood brain development are, as yet,
