Genomic prediction when some animals are not genotyped
Background The use of genomic selection in breeding programs may increase the rate of genetic improvement, reduce the generation time, and provide higher accuracy of estimated breeding values (EBVs).

A Novel Root-Knot Nematode Resistance QTL on Chromosome Vu01 in Cowpea. [PDF]
The root-knot nematode (RKN) species Meloidogyne incognita and M. javanica cause substantial root system damage and suppress yield of susceptible cowpea cultivars.

Genomic data and objective traits (body conformation, growth and carcass features) could increase efficiency in cow selection. GWAS on carcass traits of Hanwoo cattle have been published; however, only a few studies are about body conformation traits ...

Sensitivity of methods for estimating breeding values using genetic markers to the number of QTL and distribution of QTL variance [PDF]
The objective of this simulation study was to compare the effect of the number of QTL and distribution of QTL variance on the accuracy of breeding values estimated with genomewide markers (MEBV).

Simultaneous QTL detection and genomic breeding value estimation using high density SNP chips [PDF]
The simulated dataset of the 13th QTL-MAS workshop was analysed to i) detect QTL and ii) predict breeding values for animals without phenotypic information. Several parameterisations considering all SNP simultaneously were applied using Gibbs sampling.Fourteen QTL were detected at the different time points.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Identification of superior parental lines for biparental crossing via genomic prediction.
A parental selection approach based on genomic prediction has been developed to help plant breeders identify a set of superior parental lines from a candidate population before conducting field trials.

Low-density genotype panel for both parentage verification and discovery in a multi-breed sheep population [PDF]
peer-reviewedThe generally low usage of artificial insemination and single-sire mating in sheep, compounded by mob lambing (and lambing outdoors), implies that parentage assignment in sheep is challenging.
