Elevated cortisol concentration in preterm sheep fetuses impacts heart development

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 110, Issue 12, Page 1928-1947, December 1, 2025.
Abstract The prepartum rise in cortisol promotes cardiac development and maturation. Here, we investigated the impact of elevated circulating cortisol during mid‐late gestation on cardiac growth and metabolism in fetal sheep. Saline or cortisol (2–3 mg in 4.4 mL/24 h) was infused into the fetal jugular vein from 109 to 116 days gestation (dG, term ...

Identification and Evaluation of Reference Genes for Accurate Transcription Normalization in Safflower under Different Experimental Conditions.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) has received a significant amount of attention as a medicinal plant and oilseed crop. Gene expression studies provide a theoretical molecular biology foundation for improving new traits and developing new cultivars ...

Determination of reliable reference genes for gene expression studies in Chinese chive (Allium tuberosum) based on the transcriptome profiling

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Chinese chive (Allium tuberosum) is widely cultivated around the world for its unique flavor, nutrient, and medicinal values, yet its molecular mechanism on flavor formation and other metabolic pathways remains intangible.

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 11, Page 3360-3375, November 2025.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Integrative miRNOMe profiling reveals the miR‐195‐5p–CHEK1 axis and its impact on luminal breast cancer outcomes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 11, Page 3409-3426, November 2025.
In luminal (ER+) breast carcinoma (BC), miRNA profiling identified miR‐195‐5p as a key regulator of proliferation that targets CHEK1, CDC25A, and CCNE1. High CHEK1 expression correlates with worse relapse‐free survival after chemotherapy, especially in patients with luminal A subtype.

Comprehensive profiling of lncRNAs and mRNAs enriched in small extracellular vesicles for early noninvasive detection of colorectal cancer: diagnostic panel assembly and extensive validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 11, Page 3445-3462, November 2025.
Small extracellular vesicles are a promising source of diagnostic molecules. We conducted a comprehensive study, including transcriptome profiling and RT‐qPCR validation on large cohorts of samples. Diagnostic panels enabling sensitive detection of colorectal cancer and precancerous lesions were established. Some molecules were differentially expressed

Bypassing hazard of housekeeping genes: Their evaluation in rat granule neurons treated with cerebrospinal fluid of Multiple Sclerosis subjects

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2015
Gene expression studies employing real-time PCR has become an intrinsic part of biomedical research. Appropriate normalization of target gene transcript(s) based on stably expressed housekeeping genes is crucial in individual experimental conditions to ...

A transcriptomic atlas facilitating systems biology approaches in pea

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
Abstract Pea is a model organism in biology and an agronomic crop, entering the genomics era. Although RNA‐sequencing (RNA‐seq) has become the main transcriptomic approach in biology, there is currently no genome‐wide expression atlas covering a wide range of biological conditions for this species.

Suitability of endogenous reference genes for gene expression studies with human intraocular endothelial cells

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2013
Background The use of quantitative real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) has become widely applied as a method to measure transcript abundance. In order to be reflective of biological processes during health and disease this
