ABSTRACT Treatment‐associated hepatotoxicity (TAH) is a common complication of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment, but genetic risk factors remain poorly understood. We evaluated the SOD2 rs4880 variant in 544 children with ALL at Texas Children's Hospital. After adjusting for demographic and clinical covariates, the rs4880 C allele

Microanatomical Structure and Physical Characteristics of Thin Tail Hogget with Calpastatin (CAST-1) Genotype Differences [PDF]
Thin tail sheep has good adaptation in tropics condition, but they have low meat quality. Quality of thin tail hogget can be improved by selection. Calpastatin (CAST) gene is an indigenous inhibitor of calpain that involved in regulation of protein turn ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Norovirus epidemiology in community and health care settings and association with patient age, denmark [PDF]
Norovirus (NoV) is a major cause of gastroenteritis. NoV genotype II.4 (GII.4) is the predominant genotype in health care settings but the reason for this finding is unknown. Stool samples containing isolates with a known NoV genotype from 2,109 patients

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
