Regulatory mechanisms of Gentiopicroside on human diseases: a brief review
Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archives of Pharmacology, 2023Gentiopicroside (GPS), a single compound isolated from Gentiana lutea L. and the crucial representative of secoiridoid constituent, has been permitted for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine. GPS and its metabolites have been increasingly used in the search for clinical management with therapeutic properties and fewer side effects.

Gentiogenal, a Conversion Product of Gentiopicrin (Gentiopicroside)*
Planta Medica, 1983The structure of gentiogenal, (+/-)5-formyl-6-methyl-3,4-dihydro-1H,6H-pyrano-[3,4-c-]-pyran-1-one, a conversion product of the aglucone of gentiopicrin (gentiopicroside), isolated from BLACKSTONIA PERFOLIATA (Gentianaceae), was elucidated by (1)H- and (13)C NMR spectroscopic, mass spectrometric and X-ray diffraction methods.

Depression is a disease that seriously threatens the quality of human life. To explore the effect of gentiopicroside on depression, this study investigated the therapeutic effect of gentiopicroside on corticosterone-induced depressionin vivo and in vitro by using metabolomic methods.A total of 36 rats were randomly assigned to three groups: a normal ...

Biomimetic transformation of gentiopicroside to erythrocentaurin
Chinese Chemical Letters, 2009Abstract Biomimetic transformation of gentiopicroside was carried out by β-glucosidase at pH 7.0 for 3 days at 37 °C. Two products, erythrocentaurin and 5,6-dihydro-5-formyl-6-methyl-1H,3H-pyrano[3,4-c]pyran-1-one were isolated and identified by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV, IR, MS and elemental analyse. The possible mechanisms were discussed.

A new iridoid precursor of gentiopicroside
Phytochemistry, 1971Abstract Two new iridoids have been isolated from some Gentiana species. One of them, named gentioside, acts as an effective precursor of gentiopicroside (II). Its structure (V) comprising features of gentiopicroside and loganin (III) is given. The structure of the second iridoid is probably of the aucubin type.

This study aimed to examine whether gentiopicroside (GPS) could exert hepatoprotective effects on leflunomide (LEF)- and/or methotrexate (MTX)-treated arthritic rats through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant pathways. We observed the external symptoms of joints, analysed serum indicators, measured haematological parameters and mRNA levels, and performed

The pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of gentiopicroside (GPS), an active component of the Gentian plant species, from orally administered decoctions of Gentianae (DG), or in combination with other plants in the prescription of Longdan Xiegan Tang (LXT), was compared in rats with oral administration of GPS alone, using doses adjusted to deliver ...

Effect of D-cellobiose on oral bioavailability of gentiopicroside
China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica, 2016In this study, the effect of D-cellobiose on oral bioavailability of gentiopicroside (GPS) was investigate. The influence of D-cellobiose on GPS was achieved by calculating the residual GPS after being degraded with β-glucosidase or intestinal flora, and the data demonstrated D-cellobiose could inhibit the degradation of GPS in intestines; in ...

(±)-Gentiovarisin A and gentiovarisin B, unusual secoiridoid dimer skeletons from gentiopicroside
Fitoterapia, 2022Gentiana scabra, a famous traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has been documented in Chinese Pharmacopoeia for the treatment of hepatitis. Its index component gentiopicroside could not be detected in the decoction, which suggested that the quality control of the TCM with this ingredient needs attention.
