Geoffroea decorticansfor Biofuels: A Promising Feedstock [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Renewable Energy, 2017
In this work, chañar (Geoffroea decorticans) fruit is evaluated as a potential feedstock for biodiesel and biomass pellets production with reference to some relevant properties. The fatty acid profile of this oil (83% unsaturated acids) is found to be comparable to similar seed oils which have been attempted for biodiesel production.

Antimycotic activity of 5′-prenylisoflavanones of the plant Geoffroea decorticans, against Aspergillus species

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Microbiology, 2009
The antifungal activity of the ethanolic extract (EE), (3R)-5,7,2',3'-tetrahydroxy-4'-methoxy-5'-prenylisoflavanone (1) and (3R)-7-2'-3'-trihydroxy-4'-methoxy-5'-prenylisoflavanone (2) isolated from Geoffroea decorticans was evaluated against four different species of Aspergillus. Their effect was compared with that displayed by synthetic products. The

Compositional Studies of Seeds and Fruits from Two Varieties of Geoffroea decorticans

open access: yesJournal of Food Composition and Analysis, 2001
Abstract Chanar (Geoffroea decorticans) seeds and fruits constitute valuable foodstuff for humans and animals in many semiarid regions of South America. The purpose of this research was to determine the proximate composition and fatty acid pattern of seeds and fruits from two varieties of Chanar growing in Argentina. The chemical parameters evaluated

GdTI, the first thermostable trypsin inhibitor from Geoffroea decorticans seeds. A novel natural drug with potential application in biomedicine

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2020
A novel thermostable trypsin inhibitor was obtained from Geoffroea decorticans seeds. G. decorticans trypsin inhibitor (GdTI) is a protein with molecular mass of 6743.7 Da, with a potent inhibitory activity (Ki of 2.1 nM) even at high temperatures and extreme pHs (100% after 5 h at 100 °C and 80% after 60 min at pH 2-12) constituting one of the most ...

Genetic diversity of Geoffroea decorticans , a native woody leguminous species from Atacama Desert in Chile

open access: yesBosque (Valdivia), 2018

Genetic studies of various Prosopis species (Leguminosae, Section Algarobia) co-occurring in oases of the Atacama Desert (northern Chile). [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol, 2021
We assess the genetic diversity and the degree of differentiation among groups of Prosopis individuals of different species from Section Algarobia and putative hybrids co‐occurring in isolated oases from the Atacama Desert (19–24°S) in Chile. Genetic results are discussed in relation to the fragmented landscape, considering both natural and non‐natural

Current Insights into Phytochemistry, Nutritional, and Pharmacological Properties of Prosopis Plants. [PDF]

open access: yesEvid Based Complement Alternat Med, 2022
Prosopis is a regional cash crop that is widely grown in arid, semiarid, tropical, and subtropical areas. Compared with other legume plants, Prosopis is underutilized and has great potentialities. Prosopis not only is a good source of timber, construction, fencing material, and gum, but also can be applied for food, beverage, feed, and medicine ...
