Quantum Phenomena in Molecular and Biological Systems: A Decoherence‐Based Decision Framework With Falsifiable Predictions and a Failure‐Mode Taxonomy

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
A physics‐grounded framework based on decoherence timescales (τ_dec vs τ_func), Markovian validity, and falsifiability criteria is applied across molecular systems to distinguish where quantum effects are necessary, marginal, or irrelevant. The analysis integrates quantum chemistry, biological quantum mechanisms, and quantum computing under a unified ...

HIGH-SPEED SOLAR WIND AND GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY

open access: yesRadio Physics and Radio Astronomy, 2015
The impact of high-speed solar wind disturbances on the occurrence of geomagnetic storms is analyzed. The solar wind velocity values, determined from scintillation observations at the UTR-2 and URAN-2 Ukrainian decameter radio telescopes are analyzed ...

A Prospection‐Led Archaeological Investigation of a Picenian and Roman Necropolis in Corinaldo (Marche, Italy)

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents the results of an integrated archaeological and geophysical investigation conducted between 2018 and 2024 at the newly discovered Picenian and Roman necropolis of Contrada Nevola (Corinaldo, Marche, Central Italy), identified in the framework of development‐led archaeology. The research strategy combined aerial photography,

Spremembe v gostoti energije magnetnega polja Zemlje na observatoriju PIA, Slovenija, med geomagnetno nevihto G5 11. maja 2024 (= Changes in the energy density of the Earth's magnetic field at the PIA, Slovenia, observatory during the G5 Geomagnetic Storm on May 11, 2024)

open access: yesGeodetski Vestnik
Geomagnetic storms are the largest disturbance in the Earth's magnetic field. On May 11, 2024, a geomagnetic storm occurred at the peak of the 25th solar cycle, reaching the highest level (G5) on the planetary scale.

Remote Roca: Integrating Data From Archaeological Survey, Remote Sensing and Geophysics in the Hinterland at the Long‐Lasting Mediterranean Site of Rocavecchia (Apulia, Italy)

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents a multi‐method non‐invasive investigation of an approximately 4‐ha area associated with the long‐occupied coastal settlement of Rocavecchia (Apulia, southern Italy), situated between the prehistoric fortified peninsula and the Hellenistic‐Messapian walls.

AGPLO‐Driven Optimisation for Accurate Segmentation of Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma in Medical Imaging

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma (PTC) is the most prevalent thyroid malignancy, and accurate lesion segmentation is essential for clinical diagnosis and treatment planning. Metaheuristic optimisation algorithms have been widely used in Multi‐Threshold Image Segmentation (MTIS), but many existing methods suffer from an imbalance between global ...

Synchronous machine performance under geomagnetic disturbances

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2021
Geomagnetic disturbances (GMDs) are known to disturb power system equipment performance. The danger is associated with geomagnetically induced currents (GICs) occurring at the Earth's surface during GMD.

Sensory Biology of the Franciscana (Pontoporia blainvillei, Pontoporiidae, Cetartiodactyla): Ontogenetic Modifications of Vibrissae and Vibrissal Crypts

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
The transition of cetaceans from a terrestrial to an aquatic environment involved a crucial sensory adaptation to environments with limited visibility. Vibrissae, important mechanoreceptors, undergo an ontogenetic transformation in odontocetes. This research describes the histomorphology of vibrissae and crypts at different developmental stages ...

Drilling the Marathousa palaeo‐lake in Greece (Peloponnese): inferring the environmental context of a Middle Pleistocene archaeological site

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The Megalopolis Basin is located in the central Peloponnese (Greece), a region that is situated along one of the primary Pleistocene biogeographical corridors for intracontinental hominin migration. The basin comprises several hundred metres of Plio‐Pleistocene sediments alternating between clastics and lignites.
