Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Geometric Calibration for the Linear Array Camera Based on Star Observation

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
This article presents an innovative geometric calibration mode for a linear array camera used in the Jilin-1 satellite. Changing the camera from observing the ground to observing space and treating stars as control points allow for the accurate ...

Line-Based Geometric Consensus Rectification and Calibration From Single Distorted Manhattan Image

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Recent advances in single image rectification and intrinsic calibration has been addressed by employing line information on the distorted image. The core issues of this technique are the separation of rectification and calibration procedures, and the ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

An all-in-one solution to geometric and photometric calibration [PDF]

open access: yes2006 IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality, 2006
We propose a fully automated approach to calibrating multiple cameras whose fields of view may not all overlap. Our technique only requires waving an arbitrary textured planar pattern in front of the cameras, which is the only manual intervention that is required.

Productivity‐Driven Optimization of Laser Powder Bed Fusion Parameters for IN718 Superalloy: Process Control, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates how optimizing laser power, scanning speed, and hatching distance in laser powder bed fusion can boost the productivity of Inconel 718 manufacturing by up to 29% while maintaining mechanical integrity. The work delivers a validated process window and cost–time analysis, offering industry‐ready guidelines for efficient additive ...

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.
