A Generalized Geometric Error Model for Multi-Axis Machines
CIRP Annals, 1987Abstract A methodology has been presented to build a generalized error model of a multi-axis machine of arbitrary configuration. It is based on the assumption of rigid body motions and utilizes homogeneous transform matrices. The developed error model accounts for errors due to inaccuracies in the geometry and mutual relationships of the machine's ...

Strapdown navigation using geometric algebra: Modeling and error analysis
2013 10th IEEE International Conference on Control and Automation (ICCA), 2013A strapdown inertial navigation system (SDINS) model and two comparable error models are developed using geometric algebra (GA). GA is a powerful representational and computational system for geometry. Rigid body motions can be represented by versor products in GA framework. Therefore, the navigation equation can be recast using GA.

Virtual reality based teleoperation which tolerates geometrical modeling errors
Proceedings of IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems. IROS '96, 2002It is well known that teleoperation with time delay causes force feedback control to become unstable. Therefore, bilateral control could not be used in such applications as space teleoperation with time delay. Force feedback information is, however, very important for the operator when performing contact tasks.

Geometric probability distribution for modeling of error risk during prescription dispensing
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 2006The relationship between the number of prescriptions dispensed by individual pharmacy staff during a single workday and the probability of committing at least one dispensing error during that same workday period was evaluated using a geometric probability distribution.A cross-sectional descriptive study involving 50 pharmacies located in six cities ...

A Review of Geometric Error Modeling and Error Detection for CNC Machine Tool
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013Error compensation can improve the accuracy of machine tools effectively. Among the error sources affecting the accuracy of CNC machine tool, geometric error is always set as a key performance criterion. This paper summarizes several methods of geometric error modeling and reviews the characteristics of different methods. Furthermore, available methods

Modeling of Workpiece Location Error Due to Fixture Geometric Error and Fixture-Workpiece Compliance
Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, 2005Several fixture-related error sources contribute to workpiece location error in a machining system. Inaccurate part placement in the fixture relative to the cutting tool, for example, can negatively affect the quality of the part. In this paper, the following major sources of error are considered: fixture geometric error and elastic deformation of the ...

Geometrical modelling of scanning probe microscopes and characterization of errors
Measurement Science and Technology, 2009Scanning probe microscopes (SPMs) allow quantitative evaluation of surface topography with ultra-high resolution, as a result of accurate actuation combined with the sharpness of tips. SPMs measure sequentially, by scanning surfaces in a raster fashion: topography maps commonly consist of data sets ideally reported in an orthonormal rectilinear ...

Geometric Errors and CAD Model Integration Method for Precision Assembly
2019 25th International Conference on Automation and Computing (ICAC), 2019It is difficult to integrate the complete geometric errors into the three-dimensional (3D) solid model in the present computer-aided design (CAD) system, which leads to the fact that virtual assembly technology based on the ideal CAD model cannot predict the influence of geometric errors on the assembly quality.
