Geometrical Consistency Modeling on B-Spline Parameter Domain for 3D Face Reconstruction From Limited Number of Wild Images

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurorobotics, 2021
A number of methods have been proposed for face reconstruction from single/multiple image(s). However, it is still a challenge to do reconstruction for limited number of wild images, in which there exists complex different imaging conditions, various ...

Geometric Error Modeling of a Super-size Floor Type Boring Machine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Volumetric error analysis of a super-size floor type boring machine is conducted through geometric error modeling of the machine tool. Thermal deformation errors of the joint and shape elements are included in the model.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Algorithms for fitting cylindrical objects to sparse range point clouds for rapid workspace modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Current methods for construction site modeling employ large, expensive laser range scanners that produce dense range point clouds of a scene from different perspectives.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Dual Numbers Approach in Multiaxis Machines Error Modeling

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
Multiaxis machines error modeling is set in the context of modern differential geometry and linear algebra. We apply special classes of matrices over dual numbers and propose a generalization of such concept by means of general Weil algebras.

An Error Analysis of the Geometric Baade-Wesselink Method

open access: yes, 2003
We derive an analytic solution for the minimization problem in the geometric Baade-Wesselink method. This solution allows deriving the distance and mean radius of a pulsating star by fitting its velocity curve and angular diameter measured ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
