Engineering Optimization, 1996An energy formulation which defines the equilibrium position of the neutral axis of a laterally loaded beam is summarised. Geometric non-linearity is introduced through an inextensibility constraint, nonlinear in the unknown configuration. Several sensitivity formulations are developed and investigated.

Jets from a Geometrically Thick Disk
Publications of the Astronomical Society of Japan, 1982Abstract A steady isentropic flow in nozzles along the rotation axis of a thick disk is investigated in the framework of general relativity. There exists a transonic flow like a stellar wind. The flow has a terminal velocity of the order of the light speed if the transonic point of the flow is located near the central object of the disk.

Decoupling of geometric thickness and refractive index in quantitative phase microscopy

Maximizing the Degree of (Geometric) Thickness-t Regular Graphs
2015In this paper, we show that there exist $$6t-1$$-regular graphs with thickness t, by constructing such an example graph. Since all graphs of thickness t must have at least one node with degree less than 6t, this construction is optimal. We also show, by construction, that there exist 5t-regular graphs with geometric thickness at most t.

Discrete Geometric Modeling of Thick Pelvic Organs with a Medial Axis
2012Modeling of soft pelvic organs and their thicknesses is a difficult task, especially when inputs are noisy and scattered. In order to define the geometric step for a global pelvic surgery simulator, we define a new method based only on geometry while considering the problem of error transfer between outer and inner organ surfaces.
