Probabilistic Analysis of Geometric Tolerances

1996
This paper describes a procedure for the statistical analysis of geometric tolerances. The proposed procedure assumes that a manufactured surface lies between two ideal offset surfaces positioned at equal distance from the nominal surface. These surfaces do not represent a tolerance zone, but rather the volume which has the highest probability of ...

Geometric Methods of Assigning Tolerances

2005 IEEE Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems: Technology and Applications, 2005
The geometrical interpretation of assigning tolerances is used. It allows the maximal tolerances are evaluated in normal ones. The volume of tolerance domain is optimized. Accuracy of calculation is increased for normal distribution of parameters.

Quality Monitoring of Geometric Tolerances: a Comparison Study

2011
While in the previous chapters different approaches for quality monitoring of geometric tolerances were discussed, in the present one a comparison study is provided in which all of these approaches are considered. The aim is to allow practitioners to select a specific method in a given situation.

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance Analysis

1991
This chapter is divided into two parts: the first discusses the subject of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and its relevance in design for manufacturability. The second part deals with the why’s, how’s, and the need for tolerance analysis in taking a product from design to manufacture.

A method for computer-aided specification of geometric tolerances

Computer-Aided Design, 2013
The paper describes a method for the generation of tolerance specifications from product data. The problem is nontrivial due to the increasing adoption of geometric dimensioning criteria, which call for the use of many types of geometric tolerances to completely and unambiguously represent the design intent and the many constraints deriving from ...

Robustness in geometric modeling — Tolerance-based methods

1991
Two tolerance-based methods are presented: the linear model method and the curved model method, both of which make geometric algorithms robust by testing for ambiguous situations and correcting them. The linear model method only applies to linear objects.
