Topological Protection and Quantum Noiseless Subsystems

open access: yes, 2003
Encoding and manipulation of quantum information by means of topological degrees of freedom provides a promising way to achieve natural fault-tolerance that is built-in at the physical level.

A Hybrid Tolerance Design Method for the Active Phased-Array Antenna

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
With the increase of the working frequency of the array antenna, tolerance design has become increasingly important. The state-of-art tolerance design methods mainly deal with the position tolerance of the discrete elements. However, the geometric errors

Modeling of 2D and 3D Assemblies Taking Into Account Form Errors of Plane Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The tolerancing process links the virtual and the real worlds. From the former, tolerances define a variational geometrical language (geometric parameters). From the latter, there are values limiting those parameters.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Approach of Complex Insert Packaging Fabrication in Stereolithography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The approach of complex insert packaging fabrication in stereolithography is studied in the paper. There are many difficulties being overcome, such as the dispensing shadowing problem caused by the geometric shape of insert, the polymer feeding problem

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A Tolerance Specification Automatic Design Method for Screening Geometric Tolerance Types

open access: yesApplied Sciences
At present, the automatic generation of tolerance types based on rule-based reasoning has an obvious characteristic: for the same assembly feature, tolerance items are recommended that satisfy all feature characteristics, with a large number of ...

Reliability-based tolerance redesign of mechanical assemblies using Jacobian-Torsor model

open access: yesScience Progress, 2021
The purpose of this paper is to present a new method to redesign dimensional and geometric tolerances of mechanical assemblies at a lower cost and with higher reliability.

Inspection Strategies and Multiple Geometric Tolerances

open access: yesProcedia CIRP, 2013
AbstractRecent years have seen an increase in the adoption of geometric tolerances. It is often possible to find several geometric tolerances defined on a single part. However, this poses inspection issues: the values of the geometric error may be interrelated; therefore, the presence of multiple tolerances should be considered in inspection design. In

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
