Decision trees for geometric models
Proceedings of the ninth annual symposium on Computational geometry - SCG '93, 1993A fundamental problem in model-based computer vision is that of identifying which of a given set of geometric models is present in an image. Considering a "probe" to be an oracle that tells us whether or not a model is present at a given point, we study the problem of computing efficient strategies ("decision trees") for probing an image, with the ...

This paper presents an experiment that demonstrates the feasibility of successfully applying CASL to design 3D geometric modelling software. It presents an abstract specification of a 3D geometric model, its basic constructive primitives together with the definition of the rounding high-level operation.

Geometric models with weigthed topology
Computers & Graphics, 2011This paper introduces the concept of weighted topology to model a 3D object whose connectivity and metric depend on a novel notion of weighted arc-length. The weighted arc-length between any two points of the shape takes into account the fact that a part of the object may be either weakly or strongly connected to another part.

Geometrical illusions: study and modelling
Biological Cybernetics, 1997The phenomena of geometrical illusions of extent suggest that the metric of a perceived field is different from the metric of a physical stimulus. The present study investigated the Müller-Lyer and Oppel-Kundt illusions as functions of spatial parameters of the figures, and constructed a neurophysiological model. The main idea of the modelling is based

A Geometric Model for Stochastic Automata
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1974This paper is concerned with the problem of equivalence and dominance relations between sequential stochastic machines. We first introduce the transition output stochastic automaton together with the notion of pseudoautomaton. In Section III, we establish some fundamental properties concerning the rank of a stochastic automaton.

As mentioned in section II-1, the X-ray installation as a measurement tool was already made use of in the beginning of this century. Some methods in use nowadays for the determination of intraventricular volume originate from those applied to total heart volume measurement. Since the introduction of the orthodiagraphic projection method by MORITZ (1900)

Summary: A class of nonlinear \(\sigma\)-models coupled to gravity is defined by identifying the coordinates of spacetime with the components of a set of scalar fields. The obtained theories have purely geometric character and necessarily possess soliton solutions with topologically nontrivial scalar sectors.
