Noncommutative Spaces It was noticed a long time ago that various properties of sets of points can be restated in terms of properties of certain commutative rings of functions over those sets.

We characterize the Zariski topologies over an algebraically closed field in terms of general dimension-theoretic properties. Some applications are given to complex manifold and to strongly minimal sets.

How Platonic and Archimedean solids define natural equilibria of forces for tensegrity [PDF]
The Platonic and Archimedean solids are a well-known vehicle to describe certain phenomena of our surrounding world. It can be stated that they define natural equilibria of forces, which can be clarified particularly through the packing of spheres. [1][2]

We analyse symmetry breaking in general gauge theories paying particular attention to the underlying geometry of the theory. In this context we find two natural metrics upon the vacuum manifold: a Euclidean metric associated with the scalar sector, and ...

Geometry in Transition: A Model of Emergent Geometry [PDF]
We study a three matrix model with global SO(3) symmetry containing at most quartic powers of the matrices. We find an exotic line of discontinuous transitions with a jump in the entropy, characteristic of a 1st order transition, yet with divergent critical fluctuations and a divergent specific heat with critical exponent $ =1/2$.

Unsupervised CNN for Single View Depth Estimation: Geometry to the Rescue [PDF]
A significant weakness of most current deep Convolutional Neural Networks is the need to train them using vast amounts of manually labelled data. In this work we propose a unsupervised framework to learn a deep convolutional neural network for single ...

Geometry without topology as a new conception of geometry [PDF]
A geometric conception is a method of a geometry construction. The Riemannian geometric conception and a new T-geometric one are considered. T-geometry is built only on the basis of information included in the metric (distance between two points).

Geodesics on Calabi-Yau manifolds and winding states in nonlinear sigma models
We conjecture that a non-flat D-real-dimensional compact Calabi-Yau manifold, such as a quintic hypersurface with D=6, or a K3 manifold with D=4, has locally length minimizing closed geodesics, and that the number of these with length less than L grows ...

The Page curve of Hawking radiation from semiclassical geometry [PDF]
We consider a gravity theory coupled to matter, where the matter has a higher-dimensional holographic dual. In such a theory, finding quantum extremal surfaces becomes equivalent to finding the RT/HRT surfaces in the higher-dimensional theory. Using this

The geometry of learning [PDF]
We establish a correspondence between Pavlovian conditioning processes and fractals. The association strength at a training trial corresponds to a point in a disconnected set at a given iteration level. In this way, one can represent a training process as a hopping on a fractal set, instead of the traditional learning curve as a function of the trial ...
