Metagenomic mining reveals novel Cas12 subtypes and their evolutionary diversification

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 1, March 2026.
We identified 4112 Cas12 Proteins and 6 new Cas12 subtypes, revealed their significant diversity in N‐terminal regions, repeat sequences, and sequences motifs. We developed an AI‐driven algorithm, Cas12fam, which allows precise annotation of 18 distinct domains in Cas12 proteins.

Impact of Adaptation Strategies to Power Outages on Business in Sub‐Saharan Africa: Does Energy Management Measure Make a Difference?

open access: yesManagerial and Decision Economics, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 263-285, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Power outages hinder economic development. Although their effects are less pronounced in developed countries, they are more severe in developing nations. Recent literature suggests, in addition to traditional strategies, the adoption of energy management measures as an adaptation strategy to power outages.

Extended Kelvin–Voigt Model for Simulating Thermally Accelerated Creep in Fine‐Grained Soils

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 50, Issue 4, Page 1843-1854, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The subsurface undergoes temperature variations in many situations due to anthropogenic and natural causes, which strongly influence the long‐term behavior of soils. These phenomena can involve temperature anomalies in the ground across distances of a few meters, as in the case of nuclear waste repositories, to distances encompassing entire ...

Bacterial Microbiome Composition and Functional Potentials Across Digestive Regions of Wild New Zealand Abalone (Haliotis iris)

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, Volume 60, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abalone are valuable commercial marine gastropods, supporting both aquaculture and fishery markets. An important ecological aspect of their survival and physiological performance in a given habitat is a complex and balanced symbiotic relationship with microbes in their digestive system.

High‐Brightness Delayed Imaging Realized by Embedding Zinc Gallate Nanocrystals Into Glass

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT X‐ray delayed imaging technology leverages an “irradiation‐storage‐thermally stimulated readout” mode, demonstrating unique advantages in intermittent monitoring scenarios such as high‐temperature/high‐radiation environments. This typically requires materials combining abundant carrier‐trapping energy levels with structural thermostability ...
