Geraniol modulation of oxidative stress caused by polyethylene terephthalate nanoplastics in HEK-293 cell line [PDF]
Background: The environmental degradation of plastics into micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) poses a significant threat to human health. Polyethylene terephthalate nanoplastics (PET-NPs) are of particular concern due to their ability to induce intracellular

Industrial brewing yeast engineered for the production of primary flavor determinants in hopped beer [PDF]
Production of aromatic monoterpene molecules in hop flowers is affected by genetic, environmental, and processing factors. Here, the authors engineer brewer’s yeast for the production of linalool and geraniol, and show pilot-scale beer produced by ...

Lithium bis(oxalato)borate (LiBOB) was established as a new tool in the repertoire of the synthetic organic electrochemist. As a sustainable alternative to conventional supporting electrolytes, LiBOB shows high stability and ionic conductivity while in test reactions, product yields are comparable to standard electrolyte systems.

Hominids adapted to metabolize ethanol long before human-directed fermentation [PDF]
Paleogenetics is an emerging field that resurrects ancestral proteins from now-extinct organisms to test, in the laboratory, models of protein function based on natural history and Darwinian evolution. Here, we resurrect digestive alcohol dehydrogenases (
