Cross‐reactivity between citral and geraniol – can it be attributed to oxidized geraniol?
Contact Dermatitis, 2014SummaryBackgroundThe fragrance compound geraniol is susceptible to autoxidation when in contact with air, and to cutaneous metabolism. In both processes, the isomeric aldehydes geranial and neral are formed. Citral consists of geranial and neral. Among patients with positive reactions to citral, we have previously detected concomitant reactions to ...

Production of citral from geraniol
Journal of Chromatography A, 1977Abstract The preparation of porous-layer open-tubular columns for gas—liquid chromatography with graphitized thermal carbon black as a solid support and a polar stationary phase is described. The application of these columns is demonstrated by an example.

Zeitschrift fur Hautkrankheiten, 1990
A 32-year-old female patient working in a company for baking ingredients, who had been handling grated lemon peel and lemon oil (oleum citri) for several years, developed allergic contact dermatitis of the fingers of both her hands. By means of thin-layer chromatography, we identified geraniol in both lemon peel and lemon oil and proved it to be the ...

Specific anosmia to geraniol in mice
Neuroscience Letters, 1977The ability of Swiss mice to detect geraniol, menthol, benzaldehyde, and salicylaldehyde was tested by an active avoidance paradigm. Fourteen animals with specific anosmia to geraniol were obtained. Of these, seven were also unable to detect phenylethyl alcohol.

THE BIOSYNTHESIS OF GERANIOL IN GERANIUM
Chemistry Letters, 1972Abstract The labelling pattern in geraniol biosynthesized from [2-14C]mevalonic acid in leaves of Pelargonium roseum Bourbon was consistent with the pathway shown in the scheme. The radioactivities at C-4 and C-8 (and/or C-10) were unbalanced, in opposition to the results observed for geraniol biosynthesized in flowers of the rose.
