Does smoke derived from Victorian native vegetation stimulate germination of dormant soil-stored seed? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The effectiveness of Victorian (local) plant-derived smoke in stimulating germination of soil-stored seeds was compared with that of commercial sources from Western Australia and South Africa, for soil samples from a Eucalyptus baxteri (Bentham) Maiden ...

Polar Lattice‐Distorted Motifs Enable Synergy of Local Polarization/Dipole Fields for Concurrent Glyphosate Wastewater Remediation and CO Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photocatalytic treatment of glyphosate herbicide in agricultural wastewater is achieved through the cooperative effect of the local polarization field and dipole field mediated by lattice‐distorted carbon nitride. Glyphosate is completely degraded via selective C─P bond cleavage with a CO evolution rate of 1166 µmol g−1 h−1.

Surface‐Bound Superoxide Radical‐Mediated Photo‐Fenton Mineralization of Ciprofloxacin on Fe‐Sillenite Nanosheets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study systematically compares the degradation efficiency of CIP in a H2O2‐alone system and a novel Bi12FeO20‐H2O2 photo‐Fenton system. It reveals for the first time the presence of a quinone‐imine intermediate in the H2O2‐alone system, which exhibits toxicity comparable to CIP.

Synergetic action of light and temperature on seed germination of some solanaceae members [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stress Physiology & Biochemistry, 2013
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of nine combinations of temperature and light on seeds germination of four solanaceae species (Datura innoxia, Hyoscyamus muticus, Solanum nigrum and Withania ...

Plant‐Derived Melatonin Inhibits Bacterial Virulence via CpxA/R Two‐Component System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐derived melatonin is sensed by CpxAE48/T51, which inhibits the phosphorylation cascade transmission from CpxAH240 to CpxRD52, resulting in the inhibition of DNA‐binding capacity of CpxR and subsequent T3SS genes expression in Pst DC3000. ABSTRACT In defending against pathogens, plants deploy diverse secondary metabolites and signaling molecules ...

Seed coating for delayed germination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The diffuse leaching of plant nutrients from agricultural soils is part of the problem of the eutrophication of fresh water systems and coastal sea waters. Among the measures taken to reduce the leaching is keeping the soil with plant cover during autumn
