Treatment of gestational trophoblastic disease
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1974Abstract Of 39 patients undergoing chemotherapy for gestational trophoblastic disease, 92 per cent are in remission. More than half of the patients treated (54 per cent) had metastatic disease on admission to the hospital, and 85 per cent of these are in remission. An inordinately large number of patients were in the high-risk category (71.4 per cent)

Recurrent gestational trophoblastic disease
Gynecologic Oncology, 1981Abstract A retrospective analysis of all patients treated at Duke University Medical Center for recurrent malignant gestational trophoblastic disease is presented. Four patients (3%) with nonmetastatic disease developed recurrent tumor in the uterus from 1 month to 3 years after achieving primary remission. Eleven patients (26%) in the poor prognostic

Treating gestational trophoblastic disease
Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, 2010Gestational trophoblastic disease is one of the few human malignancies that is curable, even in advanced stages of the disease. However, appropriate management and follow-up are essential components in curing this disease.Observational, retrospective and prospective studies evaluating the efficacy of medical and surgical management of gestational ...

Recognising gestational trophoblastic disease
Best Practice & Research Clinical Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2009Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) is a group of interrelated tumours originating from the placenta. Hydatidiform molar (HM) pregnancy is the most common form of GTD; this includes both partial hydatidiform molar (PHM) and complete hydatidiform molar (CHM) pregnancies.

Imaging in Gestational Trophoblastic Disease
Seminars in Ultrasound, CT and MRI, 2019Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) is a spectrum of disorders characterized by abnormal trophoblastic proliferation. GTD includes benign conditions such as hydatidiform moles and malignant diseases that are referred as gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN).

Immunobiology of gestational trophoblastic diseases
International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, 2006Gestational trophoblastic diseases (GTDs) comprise a group of interrelated diseases characterized by development after gestation, widespread metastases, and high curability with chemotherapy. The good prognosis of GTDs is considered partly a result of the host immune response to paternal antigens expressed on trophoblastic cells.

Pathology of gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD)
Best Practice & Research Clinical Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2021Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD), comprising hydatidiform moles (HM) and gestational trophoblastic tumors (GTT), is extremely rare. HM originate from villous trophoblast and are considered preneoplastic. GTT originate from the intermediate, largely extravillous trophoblast and includes choriocarcinoma, placental site trophoblastic tumor ...

Epidemiology of gestational trophoblastic diseases
Best Practice & Research Clinical Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2003The epidemiology of gestational trophoblastic diseases is unclear. Problems with collection and interpretation of differing data abound. Hydatidiform mole (HM) is associated with abnormal gametogenesis and/or fertilization. This is further influenced by age, ethnicity and a prior history of an HM suggesting a genetic basis for its aetiology.

Choriocarcinoma and Gestational Trophoblastic Disease
Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics of North America, 2005Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) encompasses a unique group of uncommon but interrelated conditions derived from placental trophoblasts. For the purposes of discussion GTD is the appropriate collective name for hydatidiform mole, whereas the term gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) is reserved for cases with persistent human chorionic ...
