In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Functional studies of plant transcription factors and their relevance in the plant root-knot nematode interaction

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Root-knot nematodes are polyphagous parasitic nematodes that cause severe losses in the agriculture worldwide. They enter the root in the elongation zone and subtly migrate to the root meristem where they reach the vascular cylinder and establish a ...

Phase cinematographic observation on the multinucleated giant cells infected with measles virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1965
The normal mitotic dog kidney cell division and the multinucleated giant cell formation and degeneration of the dog kidney cells infected with measles virus were observed by the phase-cinematography.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

GIANT CELLS AND GIANT CELL LESIONS OF ORAL CAVITY- A REVIEW

open access: yesCumhuriyet Dental Journal, 2014
Giant cells are large mononucleated or multinucleated cells that are seen in a variety of physiological as well as pathological conditions. Multinucleated giant cells (MGCs) are important mediators of tissue remodeling and repair and also for removal of ...

The organisation of spinoparabrachial neurons in the mouse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The anterolateral tract (ALT), which originates from neurons in lamina I and the deep dorsal horn, represents a major ascending output through which nociceptive information is transmitted to brain areas involved in pain perception.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Floret-like multinucleated giant cells in neurofibroma

open access: yesDiagnostic Pathology, 2007
This short report discusses a case of neurofibroma containing floret-like multinucleated giant cells. This being the second such case in the literature.

Fungal cell gigantism during mammalian infection. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2010
The interaction between fungal pathogens with the host frequently results in morphological changes, such as hyphae formation. The encapsulated pathogenic fungus Cryptococcus neoformans is not considered a dimorphic fungus, and is predominantly found in ...

Root-knot nematode feeding site development is impaired by cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Plant-parasitic nematodes of the genera Meloidogyne trigger the formation of giant cells that undergo recurring acytokinetic mitosis and endocycles. Expression analyses of key cell cycle genes showed their early induction in the nematode feeding site ...
