Toward the Utilization of Char from the Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Polyethylene Plastic Waste: Studies of the Adsorption of Rhodamine B in an Aqueous Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 6, June 2026.
Hydrothermal liquefaction of waste polyethylene produces char that effectively removes rhodamine B from water. Nearly complete dye adsorption is achieved under optimum conditions, with adsorption following Langmuir isotherm and pseudo‐first‐order kinetics.

Light‑Driven Propulsion of Graphene Aerogels in Microgravity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 33, 15 June 2026.
Ultralight graphene aerogels convert laser light into thrust. Parabolic‐flight experiments directly compare their motion in microgravity and at 1 g, revealing order‐of‐magnitude enhancements in distance, velocity, and transient thrust when weight and friction are removed (∼50 times enhancement).

Stereoselective Production of Fluorohydrins Biocatalyzed by an Alcohol Dehydrogenase From Pichia glucozyma

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Ketoreductase from Pichia glucozyma (KRED1‐Pglu) has been successfully employed for the stereoselective bioreduction of α‐halogenated ketones using the purified protein, or alternatively a lyophilized whole cell preparation overexpressed in E. coli. Better chemoselectivities were found with pure biocatalyst, obtaining a series of chiral fluorohydrins ...
