Nanocrystalline material with gigacycle fatigue life.
Medical device technology, 2008A processing technology has been developed that can be applied to many different fine wire medical alloys to improve their fatigue properties. This technology has been used to process a low inclusion alloy, 35 cobalt-35 nitinol-20 chromium-10 Molybdenum (ASTM F562 chemistry), hereinafter referred to as System A.

Mechanical testing of optical fibers in the gigacycle fatigue regime
Applied photonicsThe active application of composite smart materials, which include, in addition to the main material carrying the strength load, optical fibers with optic sensors for condition monitoring, makes the task of determining the strength of the fiber optic sensors itself urgent.

Gigacycle Fatigue: A New Tool for Exploring Bearing Steel
2012This paper is devoted to a complimentary view of rolling contact fatigue testing, to have a better prediction of bearing-steel fatigue strength in the gigacycle regime. From a practical point of view, the bearing steels are loaded up to the very high-cycle fatigue regime, in service, far away from the Wohler regime, which is the standard reference.
