Modeling on a gimbal with an antenna
Proceedings, 2005 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics., 2005A model of an azimuth driving servo system with a flexible antenna in a tracking system was derived in this work. The validity of the model was verified by comparing the results of the model with experimental results. When modeling the dynamics of a gimbal with an antenna, the antenna should be considered as a flexible body.

2008 International Conference on Computational Intelligence for Modelling Control & Automation, 2008
In this paper, PD parameters tuning method for controlling a gimbal device is proposed. The gimbal device which is the controlled object, is one of hanging devices, and it is used to keep the camera to be the horizontal position. For example this technique has been paid to attention in the aerial photography by the RC helicopter. However, it is thought

Four-axis gimbal system application based on gimbal self-adaptation adjustment
2015 34th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2015Gimbal lock is a common physical phenomenon in the gimbal system. As for the three-axis gimbal system, gimbal lock could not be avoided when two axes are driven into being collinear with each other. As a result, it will lead to the loss of one degree of rotational freedom.

A gimbal platform stabilization for topographic applications
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2015The aim of this work is the stabilization of a Gimbal platform for optical sensors acquisitions in topographic applications using mobile vehicles. The stabilization of the line of sight (LOS) consists in tracking the command velocity in presence of nonlinear noise due to the external environment.

Fine Slaving of Outer Gimbal During Fast Steering of Dual Gimbaled Sight
2019 5th International Conference on Signal Processing, Computing and Control (ISPCC), 2019In dual gimbaled sight, Electro-optical sensors are in inner gimbals of the sight and outer gimbals have corresponding optical windows. Sizes of these windows are limited due to many reasons of cost, weight and feasibility. Also, there is small physical freedom between gimbals (inner and outer).

The search for the ultimate gimbal
Guidance and Control Conference, 1979The need for higher accuracy in pointing systems continues to grow. Fundamental limitations are inherent in the components used for gimbals. This paper discusses some developments which are expected to make it possible to achieve higher accuracy and stability.

Workspace of a Gimbal With Joint Limits
Volume 2B: 24th Biennial Mechanisms Conference, 1996Abstract An analytical formulation for determining the workspace of a point on a body suspended in a Gimbal mechanism is presented. Although the gimbal mechanism comprises three degrees of freedom, the resulting workspace is a region on a spherical surface.

Dynamic performance of a two-axis gimbaled pedestal in keyhole gimbal-lock conditions
SPIE Proceedings, 2011The common two-axis azimuth-elevation gimbaled pedestal has a full-hemispheric, horizon-to-zenith field of regard. This pedestal has no kinematic difficulties at low elevation angles. In this position, the line-of-sight of the mounted sensor is perpendicular to both the azimuth and elevation gimbal axes, which thus provide two orthogonal degrees of ...

Dynamics of a Rotor Suspended on Gimbals
2011The Magnus demonstration gyroscope is an instrument that allows a series of amazing experiences when the rotor loses its axial symmetry. It consists of a rotor on two gimbals whose inertia and energy loss will be considered in the modeling. A normalization procedure to reduce the number of parameters is established. Unlimited rotation around the center
