Generation of ginsenosides Rg3 and Rh2 from North American ginseng
Phytochemistry, 2004Rg3 and Rh2 ginsenosides are primarily found in Korean red ginseng root (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) and valued for their bioactive properties. We quantified both Rh2 and Rg3 ginseng leaf and Rg3 from root extracts derived from North American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius).

The aim of this work was to transform ginsenoside extract into the pharmacologically active minor ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3 by three thermostable glycosidases. The GH1 thermostable beta-glucosidase Tpebgl1 from Thermotoga petrophlia was found to have the ability to convert ginsenosides Rb1 and Rb2.

Ginsenoside Rg3 Alleviates Xerostomia in Orchiectomized Mice via AR/AQP5
Journal of Dental ResearchSjögren’s disease (SjD), an autoimmune inflammatory disease, is associated with reduced androgen levels. Testosterone replacement therapy alleviates SjD progression, but the exact mode of action is unclear and adverse effects are reported. Our present study found that dihydrotestosterone (DHT) enhances the transcription and expression of aquaporin 5 ...
