TreeSpider: In‐Canopy Exploration With Tether‐Based Aerial Modular Arms

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A tethered drone with perching arms and a 360° ring enables unprecedented maneuverability within dense forest canopies. By dynamically adjusting tether length and decoupling pitch from the frame, it navigates between branches, senses multiple trees, and interacts physically with foliage.

Anthropogenic Influence on the Microclimate and Glaciation of the Kungur Ice Cave during the Period of Maximum Tourist Load

open access: yesЛëд и снег
The Kungur Ice Cave is visited by thousands of tourists every year, so the question of anthropogenic influence on changing its state is acute. Snow and ice formations are the main attraction of the cave.

When do we need pan-global freeze to explain ^(18)O-depleted zircons and rocks? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Rocks with δ^(18)O values of less than 5‰ SMOW (Standard Mean Ocean Water) contain oxygen derived from ∼0‰ seawater or meteoric (rain or melted snow,

Testicular mRNA‐LNP Delivery: A Novel Therapy for Genetic Spermatogenic Disorders

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the current study, we developed a novel therapy for genetic spermatogenic disorders. It was revealed that in vivo delivery of mRNA LNP3 could restore spermatogenesis in Msh5D486Y/D486Y and Maps KO mouse models with meiotic arrest. Notably, the offspring without genomic integration was born using ICSI derived from the rescue of Msh5D486Y/D486Y mouse ...

Chloroplast Stress Signals Orchestrate Epidermis‐Specific Remodeling of Mitochondria and ER Under High Light

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High light exposure triggers an epidermis‐specific remodeling of mitochondria and ER in Arabidopsis, driven by chloroplast‐derived signals. Live‐cell imaging shows that HL rapidly suppresses mitochondrial motility, followed by fusion‐driven elongation and ER cisternal expansion.

Far-field modelling of THM processes in rock salt formations

open access: yesOpen Geomechanics
Glaciation cycles are one aspect to be considered in assessing the safety of deep geological repository sites for long-term radioactive waste storage. This study examines the impact of time-dependent boundary conditions and thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM)

A late Pleistocene long pollen record from Lake Urmia, NW Iran [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A palynological study based on two 100-m long cores from Lake Urmia in northwestern Iran provides a vegetation record spanning 200 ka, the longest pollen record for the continental interior of the Near East.

An Artificial Antibody‐Based Toolbox Accelerates Validation of Hidden Microproteins Encoded by the Dark Genome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microproteins are hidden treasures encoded by the “dark proteome” but remain largely underexplored due to the lack of highly efficient tools. We developed a molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs)‐based toolbox (CLAIMID) to achieve accelerated and ultrasensitive microproteins validation at multiple biological scales (single living cells, cell populations,

Animal emergence during Snowball Earths by thermosynthesis in submarine hydrothermal vents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Darwin already commented on the lateness in the fossil record of the emergence of the animals, calling it a valid argument against his theory of evolution^1^.

Natural Negative Feedback Loops Confer Indica‐Japonica Differentiation for Grain Size Homeostasis in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the genetic and molecular mechanisms controlling grain size homeostasis through fine‐tuning OsGRX8 self‐expression by two natural negative feedback loops functioning in redox‐dependent or ‐independent manners and identifies two self‐regulatory haplotypes (SRHs) for the subspecies differentiation in rice.
