Which global circulation model works best for my region? Concordance with genetic data for a Neotropical shrew

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Copious questions in global change biology require estimates of climatic suitability for species in the past or future, often via transfers of ecological niche models (ENMs) using outputs from global circulation models (GCMs). However, available GCMs differ markedly, affecting hindcasts and forecasts of species potential distributions. We propose using

Extinct Pleistocene carnivores were diurnal and highly active

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
There is much contention over the causes and correlates of megafaunal extinctions at the end of the Pleistocene. A major role for human impact such as hunting has been discussed widely. If correct, the overkill hypothesis explains not only why large mammals in general were highly prone to extinction but suggests that extinction may have been selective ...

High‐Sensitivity Piezoresistive Biomass‐Derived Carbon Aerogel/Polydimethylsiloxane Composite with Extreme Temperature Adaptability

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study developed a flexible piezoresistive sensor material combining biomass‐derived carbon aerogel (CC) and PDMS. The lightweight, breathable composite exhibits exceptional durability (>90% shape recovery after 100 000 cycles at 30% strain) and stable response (5.89 ± 0.18 s).

Biomass‐Derived Transparent Bamboo Composite Films with Europium‐Based Photoconversion for Energy‐Efficient Smart Agriculture

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A biomass‐based transparent bamboo composite doped with europium efficiently converts UV light into photosynthetically active red light, significantly enhancing plant growth and providing a sustainable alternative to petroleum‐based agricultural films. The rational design of sustainable light‐conversion agricultural materials is critical for enhancing ...
