Finite-size critical scaling in Ising spin glasses in the mean-field regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We study in Ising spin glasses the finite-size effects near the spin-glass transition in zero field and at the de Almeida-Thouless transition in a field by Monte Carlo methods and by analytical approximations.

Glass transition temperature of asphalt binder based on atomistic scale simulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials
Glass transition is one of the most crucial physical properties for polymerical materials. As a typical complex polymerical material, the glass transition phenomenon in asphalt binder is directly related to their temperature-related properties.

Ideal glass transitions for hard ellipsoids

open access: yes, 2000
For hard ellipsoids of revolution we calculate the phase diagram for the idealized glass transition. Our equations cover the glass physics in the full phase space, for all packing fractions and all aspect ratios X$_0$.

Glass transition as a topological phase transition

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2022
The glass transition is considered as a phase transition in the system of topologically protected excitations in matter structure. The critical behavior of the system is considered both in statics and dynamics cases. It is shown in the simple model describing the topological defects system in the elastic medium with non-zero shear modulus, most of ...

Nanocluster glass-formation: a potential energy landscape perspective

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
The intrinsic nature of glass states or glass transitions has been a mystery for a long time. Recent studies have suggested that glass-formation versus crystallization occurs for potential energy landscapes (PEL) having a specific structure and the ...

Effect of Surfacial Opening-pore Area of Porous Silica Transition Layer on Mechanical Properties of Laminated Glass

open access: yesJournal of Aeronautical Materials, 2016
The effect of opening-pore size in the silica transition layer surface on mechanical properties of aeronautic laminated glass was investigated. The microstructure of the pore of porous silica transition layer was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy.

Coamorphous Systems of Valsartan: Thermal Analysis Contribution to Evaluate Intermolecular Interactions Effects on the Structural Relaxation

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Coamorphous formation in binary systems of valsartan (Val) with 4,4′-bipyridine (Bipy) and trimethoprim (Tri) was investigated for mixtures with a mole fraction of 0.16~0.86 of valsartan and evaluated in terms of the glass transition temperature.

Formation of Ti–Zr–Cu–Ni bulk metallic glasses [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Formation of bulk metallic glass in quaternary Ti–Zr–Cu–Ni alloys by relatively slow cooling from the melt is reported. Thick strips of metallic glass were obtained by the method of metal mold casting.

High-entropy induced a glass-to-glass transition in a metallic glass

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Glass-to-glass transitions can help understanding the glass nature, but it remains difficult to tune metallic glasses into significantly different glass states.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
