Slow dynamics near glass transitions in thin polymer films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The $\alpha$-process (segmental motion) of thin polystyrene films supported on glass substrate has been investigated in a wider frequency range from 10$^{-3}$ Hz to 10$^4$ Hz using dielectric relaxation spectroscopy and thermal expansion spectroscopy ...

Glass transition and alpha-relaxation dynamics of thin films of labeled polystyrene

open access: yes, 2008
The glass transition temperature and relaxation dynamics of the segmental motions of thin films of polystyrene labeled with a dye, 4-[N-ethyl-N-(hydroxyethyl)]amino-4-nitraozobenzene (Disperse Red 1, DR1) are investigated using dielectric measurements ...

Determination of the Glass Transition Temperature of Freestanding and Supported Azo-Polymer Thin Films by Thermal Assisted Atomic Force Microscopy

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
In this paper we introduce and apply the method for determination of the glass transition temperature of the sub-100 nm thick freestanding and supported polymer films based on thermally assisted atomic force microscopy (AFM). In proposed approach changes

Formation of Two Glass Phases in Binary Cu-Ag Liquid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The glass transition is alternatively described as either a dynamic transition in which there is a dramatic slowing down of the kinetics, or as a thermodynamic phase transition.

Dynamical Critical Phenomena in three-dimensional Heisenberg Spin Glasses

open access: yes, 2002
Spin-glass (SG) and chiral-glass (CG) orderings in three dimensional (3D) Heisenberg spin glass with and without magnetic anisotropy are studied by using large-scale off-equilibrium Monte Carlo simulations.

Temperature-dependent thermal expansivities of silicate melts: The system anorthite-diopside [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The temperature-dependent thermal expansivities of melts along the join anorthite-diopside have been determined on glassy and liquid samples using a combination of calorimetry, dilatometry, and Pt double bob Archimedean densitometry.

“Glass transition” in peptides: Temperature and pressure effects

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2005
We report on the origin of the liquid-to-glass transition in a series of oligopeptides of γ-benzyl-L-glutamate up to the polymer (PBLG), and in Poly-Z-L-lysine (PZLL) and Polyglycine (PGly) using dielectric spectroscopy as a function of temperature and pressure.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
