NETs‐CD44‐IL‐17A Feedback Loop Drives Th17‐Mediated Inflammation in Behçet's Uveitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU), neutrophils interact with T helper 17 (Th17) cells through neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) to exert a pro‐inflammatory effect. In vitro and in vivo experiments identify that NETs promote IL‐17A secretion in Th17 cells via CD44, and increasing IL‐17A further induces more NETs formation.

ELF: An End-to-end Local and Global Multimodal Fusion Framework for Glaucoma Grading [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Glaucoma is a chronic neurodegenerative condition that can lead to blindness. Early detection and curing are very important in stopping the disease from getting worse for glaucoma patients. The 2D fundus images and optical coherence tomography(OCT) are useful for ophthalmologists in diagnosing glaucoma. There are many methods based on the fundus images

Macular Pigment and Visual Function in Patients With Glaucoma: The San Diego Macular Pigment Study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
PurposeAlthough recent studies have shown that macular pigment (MP) is significantly lower in glaucoma patients, this relationship merits further investigation.MethodsThis cross-sectional study included 85 glaucoma patients and 22 controls.

Genome-wide analyses identify 68 new loci associated with intraocular pressure and improve risk prediction for primary open-angle glaucoma

open access: yesNature Genetics, 2018
Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness globally1. Despite its gravity, the disease is frequently undiagnosed in the community2. Raised intraocular pressure (IOP) is the most important risk factor for primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG)3,4.

Improving Adult Vision Through Pathway‐Specific Training in Augmented Reality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Traditional perceptual training approaches are limited by stimulus specificity, treatment efficacy, and patient compliance. A novel altered reality (AR) method is developed to enhance pathway‐specific functions in human adults while performing everyday activities.

Retinal Image Synthesis and Semi-Supervised Learning for Glaucoma Assessment

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2019
Recent works show that generative adversarial networks (GANs) can be successfully applied to image synthesis and semi-supervised learning, where, given a small labeled database and a large unlabeled database, the goal is to train a powerful classifier ...
