Surface‐Mediated Charge Transfer of Photogenerated Carriers in Diamond

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 16, 2023., 2023
Despite a large bandgap of 5.5 eV, charge carriers in diamonds can be excited by visible light thanks to the presence of surface states. These transitions are identified by combining X‐ray and UV–Vis spectroscopic techniques, bringing a new understanding of the sub‐bandgap photocurrent observed with diamond electrodes, which could enable to visible ...

Mid‐infrared dual‐comb polarimetry of anisotropic samples

open access: yesNatural Sciences, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2023., 2023
Infrared dual‐comb polarimetry (IR‐DCP) is introduced as a powerful new spectroscopic method for the analysis of anisotropic samples in the mid‐IR range. IR‐DCP enables novel hyperspectral and time‐resolved applications far beyond the technical possibilities of classical Fourier‐transform IR (FTIR) approaches.

Infrared and Raman spectroscopic analysis of functionalized graphene

open access: yesApplied Research, Volume 2, Issue 1, February 2023., 2023
Graphene and its chemically functionalized variants are of high technological interest for manifold electronic, optoelectronic, and sensing applications. Multiscale characterization is demonstrated using a combination of infrared (IR) spectroscopic ellipsometry, confocal Raman spectroscopy, and photothermal atomic force microscopy coupled IR analysis ...

NACH DEM SCHICKSAL: NAPOLEON BEI HEINE UND TOLSTOJ

open access: yesGerman Life and Letters, Volume 75, Issue 3, Page 378-393, July 2022., 2022
ABSTRACT The article uses the contrast between Heinrich Heine and Tolstoyʼs descriptions of Napoleon to explore the paradigm shift from artistic to political figures in nineteenth‐century models of genius. Departing from a brief sketch of five fundamental elements of eighteenth‐century genius aesthetics, it outlines how poetic genius (personified by ...

Issue Ownership and Agenda Setting in the 2019 Swiss National Elections

open access: yesSwiss Political Science Review, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 190-208, June 2022., 2022
Abstract The 2019 Swiss national elections were characterized by the unusual prominence of two issues, environment and gender, whereas two staples of Swiss politics, immigration and Europe, were less dominant compared to previous elections. We study how, in this context, the media and party agenda were linked to issue ownership.

Substance use disorder and the baby boom generation: Does Berlin outpatient addiction care face a sustained change?

open access: yesDrug and Alcohol Review, Volume 40, Issue 6, Page 979-988, September 2021., 2021
Abstract Introduction The ageing of baby boomers is expected to confront addiction care with new challenges. This cohort had greater exposure to psychoactive substances in youth than earlier cohorts. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether Berlin addiction care is confronted with a sustained change in its clientele initiated by the baby boomers.

Neural correlates of cue‐induced changes in decision‐making distinguish subjects with gambling disorder from healthy controls

open access: yesAddiction Biology, Volume 26, Issue 3, May 2021., 2021
We investigated whether neural activation patterns related to Pavlovian‐to‐Instrumental‐Transfer (PIT) help to distinguish subjects with gambling disorder (GD), a nonsubstance‐based addiction, from healthy controls (HCs).Thirty GD and 30 HC subjects completed an affective loss aversion task during fMRI.A classifier based on multivariate neural ...

In‐depth interrogation of protein thermal unfolding data with MoltenProt

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 30, Issue 1, Page 201-217, January 2021., 2021
Abstract Protein stability is a key factor in successful structural and biochemical research. However, the approaches for systematic comparison of protein stability are limited by sample consumption or compatibility with sample buffer components. Here we describe how miniaturized measurement of intrinsic tryptophan fluorescence (NanoDSF assay) in ...
