A Multisystem Perspective of Pediatric Cell Trafficking Disorders: Within the Cells, Beneath the Signs

open access: yesJIMD Reports, Volume 67, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Cell trafficking disorders(CTDs) are rare, heterogeneous inherited conditions marked by impaired intracellular transport mechanisms such as vesicular trafficking, cytoskeletal dynamics, and organelle interactions. Although clinical awareness is increasing, CTDs are often underdiagnosed due to phenotypic overlap with mitochondrial, lysosomal ...

Liver Transplantation in PNPO Deficiency: Management Challenges and Biological Lessons

open access: yesJIMD Reports, Volume 67, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Pyridox(am)ine 5′ Phosphate Oxidase deficiency (PNPO) presents with refractory epilepsy responsive to treatment with pyridoxal 5′ phosphate (PLP) or pyridoxine. A 15‐year‐old boy with PNPO deficiency and cirrhosis underwent orthotopic liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma without extra‐hepatic disease.

DNA‐Loaded Nanoparticles Reprogram the Tumor Immune Microenvironment to Treat Brain Tumors

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 1, January 2026.
Biodegradable poly(beta‐amino ester) nanoparticles can be employed to deliver immunostimulatory genes (4‐1BBL and IL‐12) to reprogram brain tumor cells into antigen‐presenting cells to stimulate an anti‐tumor response, resulting in tumor regression and long‐term survival in GBM and meningioma models.

Comparing Functional Consequences of Human iPSC‐Microglia and Neural Stem Cell‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles in Mitigating Cognitive Decline in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2026.
Systemic (retro‐orbital vein) recurrent injections of human iPSC‐microglia and neural stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicles in a 5xFAD mouse model of Alzheimer's disease significantly improve cortex‐dependent cognitive function, reduce amyloid beta plaques, mitigate microglial and astrocytic activation, deliver neuroprotective miRNA cargo, and ...

FAM20C Modulates Neuronal Differentiation in Hypoxic–Ischemic Brain Damage via KAP1 Phosphorylation and LINE1 RNA m6A‐Dependent H3K9me3 Regulation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 1, January 2026.
FAM20C regulates the composition of the YTHDC1‐NCL‐KAP1‐LINE1 RNAs complex, thereby affecting neuronal differentiation in hypoxic–ischemic brain damage (HIBD). ABSTRACT Neurodevelopmental impairment due to hypoxic–ischemic brain damage (HIBD) lacks effective biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
