Blood Cell‐Camouflaged Liquid Metal Nanoconjugates Orchestrate Treg Depletion and STING‐Amplified Photothermal Immunity for Metastatic Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Whole‐blood biomimetic engineering transforms liquid metal nanoparticles into a tripartite immunotherapeutic platform that orchestrates regulatory T‐cell depletion, photothermal‐induced immunogenic cell death, and activation of the stimulator of interferon genes pathway.

Innovations in Government Responses to Catastrophic Risk Sharing for Agriculture in Developing Countries [PDF]

open access: yes
Markets for transferring catastrophic risk in agriculture are woefully lacking in developing countries. Even in developed countries, markets for transferring the risk of crop losses caused by natural hazards generally exist only with large government ...

Neuromorphic Devices and Computing for Sensing, Memory, and Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review introduces neuromorphic devices made from diverse materials. These devices mimic neuronal functions and architectures and, when integrated with artificial or biological computing, can form closed loops with neurons for pressure, optical, acoustic, and biochemical sensing and modulation.

Coping with catastrophic risk : the role of (non)-participating contracts

open access: yes, 2002
This paper examines how the two fundamentals principles in risk allocation, i.e., the mutuality principle and the transfer principle, can be implemented in order to manage efficiently catastrophic risk.

Dual‐Responsive Hydrogels Integrate Bioelectrical Stimulation and Piezo‐Photocatalysis for Regenerative Treatment of Infected Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A wireless, dual‐responsive hydrogel (PVA/(PVDF‐TrFE)/BiOClBr@PDA) is developed to promote efficient regeneration of infected wounds by integrating piezoelectric stimulation with piezo‐photocatalytic pathways. Under simultaneous light and ultrasonic stimulation, the hydrogel generates therapeutic electrical cues and reactive oxygen species, disrupting ...

Using participating and financial contracts to insure catastrophe risk: Implications for crop risk management [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper proposes a combination of participating and financial contracts in order to hedge catastrophic risk. Assuming unfair policies and the existence of a basis risk, we prove the optimal coverage is realized using: first, a participating contract ...

The Catastrophic Effects of Natural Disasters on Insurance Markets [PDF]

open access: yes
Natural catastrophes often have catastrophic risks on insurance companies as well as on the insured. Using a very large dataset on homeowners%u2019 insurance coverage by state, by firm, and by year for the 1984 to 2004 period, this paper documents the ...

Cavity‐Enhanced Eye‐Readable Detection of 0.1% H2 via Active Modulation of Charge‐Transfer Plasmons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A cavity‐structured nanoparticle sensor is developed for highly sensitive, eye‐readable hydrogen detection. Its excellent colorimetric response arises from a hydrogen‐induced charge‐transfer mechanism: reduction of the dielectric oxide shell in H2 triggers a transition from the plasmonic gap mode to the charge‐transfer plasmon mode.
