Droplet Electricity Generators With Maximized Energy Collection Zone Enabled by Aloe‐Inspired Midrib and Cuticle

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An Aloe‐pinspired droplet electricity generator (A‐DEG) overcomes the limited energy collection zone of conventional DEGs by guiding impact droplets through a channeling midrib and artificial cuticle. The channeling midrib induces uni‐directional droplet spreading, while the artificial cuticle on the midrib further reinforces this behavior through its ...

Programmable Stepwise Heteroepitaxial Growth of Colloidal Crystals With Different Phases

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Stepwise heteroepitaxial growth is adapted to colloidal crystal engineering with DNA, enabling face‐centered cubic (fcc) facets to grow on body‐centered cubic (bcc) crystals with 110 facets. This approach tolerates large lattice mismatches, extending heteroepitaxy beyond the limits of conventional atomic systems.

Using Procedural RenderMan Shaders for Global Illumination

open access: yes, 1995
Global illumination techniques like radiosity or Monte-Carlo ray-tracing are becoming standard features of rendering systems. However, there is currently no accepted interface format which supports an appropriate physically-based scene description.

Second‐Harmonic Hyper‐Mie Optical Activity Enables Closed‐Loop Chiral Photochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Nonlinear chiral photochemistry is demonstrated in CdTe/CdO nanohelices, where circularly polarized infrared light both drives and tracks photo‐oxidation via second‐harmonic scattering. This closed‐loop process reveals real‐time structural evolution, including shell fracturing and core exposure, accompanied by a transition from hyper‐Mie to hyper ...

Content-illumination coupling guided low-light image enhancement network

open access: yesScientific Reports
Current low-light enhancement algorithms fail to suppress noise when enhancing brightness, and may introduces structural distortion and color distortion caused by halos or artifacts.

Real-Time Global Illumination using Topological Information

open access: yes, 2014
International audienceIndirect Illumination is a key element to achieve realistic rendering. Unfortunately, since computing this effect is costly, there are few methods that render it with real-time frame rates.

Ratiometric Mycotoxin Detection in Living Plants With Dual‐Emissive Nanosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A minimally invasive microneedle patch integrates carbon dot‐embedded metal–organic frameworks as nanosensors to detect a key fungal toxin in living plants. The nanosensor produces a ratiometric fluorescence signal that enables early, non‐destructive diagnosis of fungal infection before visible symptoms, offering a new biomaterials‐based strategy for ...
