Loss of regularity for Kolmogorov equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The celebrated H\"{o}rmander condition is a sufficient (and nearly necessary) condition for a second-order linear Kolmogorov partial differential equation (PDE) with smooth coefficients to be hypoelliptic.

Video Interpolation using Optical Flow and Laplacian Smoothness

open access: yes, 2016
Non-rigid video interpolation is a common computer vision task. In this paper we present an optical flow approach which adopts a Laplacian Cotangent Mesh constraint to enhance the local smoothness.

The second order modulus revisited: remarks, applications, problems

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory
Several questions concerning the second order modulus of smoothness are addressed in this note. The central part is a refined analysis of a construction of certain smooth functions by Zhuk and its application to several problems in approximation theory,

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

An axisymmetric evolution code for the Einstein equations on hyperboloidal slices

open access: yes, 2010
We present the first stable dynamical numerical evolutions of the Einstein equations in terms of a conformally rescaled metric on hyperboloidal hypersurfaces extending to future null infinity.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Multivariate Perturbed Hyperbolic Tangent-Activated Singular Integral Approximation

open access: yesMathematics
Here we study the quantitative multivariate approximation of perturbed hyperbolic tangent-activated singular integral operators to the unit operator. The engaged neural network activation function is both parametrized and deformed, and the related kernel

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

An entropy stable discontinuous Galerkin method for the shallow water equations on curvilinear meshes with wet/dry fronts accelerated by GPUs

open access: yes, 2018
We extend the entropy stable high order nodal discontinuous Galerkin spectral element approximation for the non-linear two dimensional shallow water equations presented by Wintermeyer et al. [N. Wintermeyer, A. R. Winters, G. J. Gassner, and D.
