THE ACS SURVEY OF GLOBULAR CLUSTERS. V. GENERATING A COMPREHENSIVE STAR CATALOG FOR EACH CLUSTER [PDF]
The ACS Survey of Globular Clusters has used Hubble Space Telescope's Wide-Field Channel to obtain uniform imaging of 65 of the nearest globular clusters to provide an extensive homogeneous data set for a broad range of scientific investigations. The survey goals required not only a uniform observing strategy, but also a uniform reduction strategy.

On the role of Type Ia supernovae in the second-generation star formation in globular clusters [PDF]
ABSTRACT By means of 3D hydrodynamic simulations, we study how Type Ia supernovae (SNe) explosions affect the star formation history and the chemical properties of second-generation (SG) stars in globular clusters (GC). SG stars are assumed to form once first generation asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars start releasing their ejecta ...

Formation of Globular Clusters and the First Stellar Generations [PDF]
Using a new theory of fragmentation via gravitational instability (Di Fazio 1986) a multi-fluid evolution model for a self-gravitating spherical gas cloud (Di Fazio 9186), new opacity functions suitable for media of low density and temperature (Capuzzo Dolcetta, Di Fazio and Palla 1985), the initial collapse, fragmentation and virialization of a ...

Aluminum abundances of multiple stellar generations in the globular cluster NGC 1851 [PDF]
We study the distribution of aluminum abundances among red giants in the peculiar globular cluster NGC 1851. Aluminum abundances were derived from the strong doublet Al I 8772-8773 A measured on intermediate resolution FLAMES spectra of 50 cluster stars acquired under the Gaia-ESO public survey.

A generalized analysis of hydrophobic and loop clusters within globular protein sequences [PDF]
Abstract Background Hydrophobic Cluster Analysis (HCA) is an efficient way to compare highly divergent sequences through the implicit secondary structure information directly derived from hydrophobic clusters. However, its efficiency and application are currently limited by the need of user expertise. In order to help

On the Star Formation Efficiencies and Evolution of Multiple Stellar Generations in Globular Clusters [PDF]
Abstract By adopting empirical estimates of the helium enhancement (ΔY) between consecutive stellar generations for a sample of Galactic globular clusters (GGCs), we uniquely constraint the star formation efficiency (ϵ) of each stellar generation in these stellar systems.

Properties of second generation stars in Globular Clusters
We present the first results from the analysis of GIRAFFE spectra of more than 1200 red giants stars in 19 Galactic Globular Clusters (GCs), to study the chemical composition of second generation stars and their link with global cluster parameters.

The Formation of First Generation Stars and Globular Clusters in Protogalactic Clouds [PDF]
Within collapsing protogalaxies, thermal instability leads to the formation of a population of cool fragments which are confined by the pressure of a residual hot background medium. The critical mass required for the cold clouds to become gravitationally unstable and to form stars is determined by both their internal temperature and external pressure ...

11.13. Gravitational waves generated by globular cluster systems collapse [PDF]
The hypothesis -raised and discussed in - that the source of AGN fueling can be, at least in elliptical galaxies, stars belonging to a dense stellar environment formed by globular clusters frictionally decayed and tidally destroyed by the gravitational field of central black hole (b.h.), is strongly supported in.
