Association of globulin concentrations with prognosis in horses with lymphoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2023
IntroductionLymphoma is the most common hemopoietic neoplasia in horses. Common clinicopathologic abnormalities in equine lymphoma include hyperglobulinemia, hypoalbuminemia, hyperfibrinogenemia, anemia, thrombocytopenia and lymphocytosis ...

Presence of ferulic acid in wheat glutenin fraction and its enzymatic hydrolysates - a short report

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2007
Three protein fractions: albumin-globulin, gliadin, and glutenin were extracted from wheat grains. Enzymatic hydrolysates were obtained from each fraction using trypsin, protease from Bacillus subtilis and Subtilisin Carlsberg.

Thyroxine-binding globulin: investigation of microheterogeneity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Preparations of T4-binding globulin (TBG) from human serum was performed using only two affinity chromatography steps. Purity of the protein was demonstrated by a single band in overloaded disc and sodium dodecyl sulfate electrophoresis, equimolar ...

Antioxidant Activity of Peptide Fractions from Chickpea Globulin Obtained by Pulsed Ultrasound Pretreatment

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2023
Protein hydrolysates and peptides can show biological activities, and pulsed ultrasound improves bioactivities. Among matrices from which protein hydrolysates can be obtain, chickpea is an excellent source.

Monolayers of the Globulin, Arachin [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1952
VARIOUS methods for spreading proteins have been devised. The method used by Gorter and Grendel1 is to drop a fairly concentrated aqueous protein solution very carefully from the least possible height on to the clean water surface in the trough. Hughes et al.2 found that solid particles of protein spread very rapidly on a clean substrate surface. These

Protease-activated receptor 1 mediates thrombin-dependent, cell-mediated renal inflammation in crescentic glomerulonephritis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Protease-activated receptor (PAR)-1 is a cellular receptor for thrombin that is activated after proteolytic cleavage. The contribution of PAR-1 to inflammatory cell-mediated renal injury was assessed in murine crescentic glomerulonephritis (GN).

The chemistry of globulin [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series B, Containing Papers of a Biological Character, 1907
The object of the present paper is first to establish simple formulæ for the more important of the experimental results obtained by Hardy and Mellanby, then to interpret these in their bearing upon the chemistry of globulin in connection with a theory of colloids, and finally to find the molecular mass (weight) of globulin.

Fractionation of human immune γ-globulin [PDF]

open access: yes, 1950
Equine and bovine serum proteins have recently been fractionated by means of a physical method utilizing an electrophoretic adaptation of the principles of the Clusius column (l-4), first described and tested by Kirkwood (5) and Nielsen (6).

Single cis‐elements in brassinosteroid‐induced upregulated genes are insufficient to recruit both redox states of the BIL1/BZR1 DNA‐binding domain

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phytohormone brassinosteroid‐induced gene regulation by the transcription factor BIL1/BZR1 involves redox‐dependent DNA‐binding alternation and interaction with the transcription factor PIF4. The reduced BIL1/BZR1 dimer binds preferred cis‐elements, while oxidation alters its oligomerization state and disrupts DNA‐binding ability.

Associations between total protein, globulin, and nasal Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) colonization in US adults: results from the national health and nutrition examination survey 2001–2004

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
ObjectiveThere is limited evidence on the association between total serum protein (TP), serum globulin (GLB), and Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) nasal colonization.
