Hepatitis B immunisation : a survey of surgeons and theatre nurses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Acute viral hepatitis remains a serious condition. Its long-term sequelae include cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Health workers constitute a high-risk group for contracting hepatitis B.

T-DOM: A Taxonomy for Robotic Manipulation of Deformable Objects [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Robotic grasp and manipulation taxonomies, inspired by observing human manipulation strategies, can provide key guidance for tasks ranging from robotic gripper design to the development of manipulation algorithms. The existing grasp and manipulation taxonomies, however, often assume object rigidity, which limits their ability to reason about the ...

Synergy-based Hand Pose Sensing: Reconstruction Enhancement [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Low-cost sensing gloves for reconstruction posture provide measurements which are limited under several regards. They are generated through an imperfectly known model, are subject to noise, and may be less than the number of Degrees of Freedom (DoFs) of the hand. Under these conditions, direct reconstruction of the hand posture is an ill-posed problem,

Interlayer Design for Halide Electrolytes in All‐Solid‐State Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Halide solid electrolytes, an emerging family of materials, encounter anodic stability challenges that limit their application. By synthesizing Li3YbCl6 and Li3LuCl6 and incorporating a Li6PI3 interlayer, this study achieves lithium‐stable halide electrolytes with reduced interface resistance and enhanced critical current density.

Reduction of gastroschisis using a surgical glove in the absence of standard silos

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2020
Gastroschisis is a congenital abdominal wall defect with incidence of 1 in 4000 live births. The primary goal of treatment is to reduce bowel back to the abdominal cavity with minimizing risk of injury to the bowel or increased intra-abdominal pressure ...

3D Printing of Auxetic Self‐powered Mechanoluminescent Photonic Skins for Underwater Communication and Safety Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed self‐powered auxetic mechanoluminescent photonic skin for underwater communication and safety monitoring is introduced. Its auxetic structures, with a negative Poisson's ratio, ensure exceptional conformability to curved surfaces, enhancing adaptability to dynamic underwater environments.

Coupled Solid‐State Diffusion of Li+ and O2 − During Fabrication of Ni‐Rich NMC Thin‐Film Cathodes Resulting in the Formation of Inactive Ni2O3 and NiO Phases

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The degradation reactions for Ni‐rich NMC materials are discussed using a thin‐film model system. The loss of Li2O into the Pt current collector led to inactive NiO phases. Compensation by Li2CO3 deposited on top and the efficacy of a TiW diffusion barrier is demonstrated.

Wafer‐Scale Synthesis of Topological Insulator Sb2Te3 Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates how the topologically protected conduction in Sb2Te3 thin films can be extended from few‐mm2 samples’ area up to larger areas of several cm2 Si(111) wafers. The reported findings represent a breakthrough for the future technology scale‐up of topological insulators for applications such as spintronics, thermoelectrics, and quantum
