Form And Function Glucometer Evaluation For Specialized Populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Patient self-management technologies (glucometer, blood pressure monitor, etc.) are a critical component of chronic disease care. Although these technologies are intended to support patient activities, low device usability can produce design imped-iments

Noninvasive Continuous Glucose Monitoring Using a Multisensor-Based Glucometer and Time Series Analysis

open access: yes, 2017
Daily continuous glucose monitoring is very helpful in the control of glucose levels for people with diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance. In this study, a multisensor-based, noninvasive continuous glucometer was developed, which can continuously ...

APOE4 negates the effects of ovarian hormones on cerebrovascular endothelial and mitochondrial function

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend We examined the interaction effect of ovarian hormones and APOE genotype on cerebrovascular and mitochondrial function. Our data revealed that APOEε3 mice that were ovariectomized exhibited impaired endothelial function and greater oxidative stress and inflammation compared to sham controls.

A Comparative study of Blood Glucose Levels in Neonates in Sick Neonatal Care Unit using Glucometer and Laboratory Glucose Oxidase Method in Government Rajah Mirasdar Hospital, Thanjavur [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
BACKGROUND: Hypoglycaemia is one of the most common metabolic problems seen in neonatal intensive care unit. The symptoms of hypoglycaemia in neonates are subtle.

Caloric restriction and aerobic exercise differentially counteract muscle–tendon dysfunction following diet‐induced obesity in C57BL/6J mice

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Diet‐induced obesity induced fibro‐adipogenic remodelling of the muscle–tendon unit, characterized by increased fibrosis, reduced specific force, impaired relaxation kinetics, elevated hysteresis, and reduced aerobic capacity and glucose tolerance.

Regimen‐dependent glucocorticoid effects improve muscle performance without altering CNS physiology in mdx mice

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Defining glucocorticoid efficacy in Duchenne muscular dystrophy requires assessment across muscle, central nervous system (CNS), cardiovascular and systemic domains. Here, juvenile mdx mice were treated over 6 weeks, comparing daily and weekly dosing of prednisolone and vamorolone.

Mex‐3 RNA‐binding family member A limits macrophage ferroptosis‐associated injury linked to the SLC7A11/GPX4 pathway in diabetic atherosclerosis

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
Diabetes reduces macrophage MEX3A and aggravates atherosclerotic plaque instability. MEX3A stabilises Slc7a11 and Gpx4 mRNAs to sustain SLC7A11/GPX4 antioxidant defence. MEX3A deficiency promotes macrophage ferroptosis, lipid peroxidation and mitochondrial injury. Ferrostatin‐1 partially attenuates ferroptotic injury and diabetic plaque destabilisation.

Development of a cofactor-dependent enzymatic ligation-triggered rolling circle amplification-assisted CRISPR-Cas12a strategy for ATP detection via a personal glucometer in meat freshness evaluation

open access: yes
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a central molecule in microbial energy metabolism, serves as a critical indicator for assessing food freshness. Herein, we developed a portable and sensitive ATP quantitative platform by integrating a cofactor-dependent ...

A Comparison of the Effects of the Timing of Resistance Exercise on Glucose Levels Within the Target Range in People With Type 1 Diabetes (TREX Study): A Randomized Crossover Trial

open access: yesDiabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, Volume 42, Issue 5, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim The purpose of this paper is to examine the acute and nocturnal glycaemic response to morning fasted, fed or afternoon fed resistance exercise in people with type 1 diabetes. Methods In a crossover RCT, people with type 1 diabetes performed three acute bouts of resistance exercise in (1) morning (8 AM–10:30 AM) in a fed state, (2) morning (
