A Novel Glucose 6-Phosphate Isomerase from Listeria monocytogenes

The Protein Journal, 2014
D-Arabinose 5-phosphate isomerases (APIs) catalyze the interconversion of D-ribulose 5-phosphate and D-arabinose 5-phosphate (A5P). A5P is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of 3-deoxy-D-manno-octulosonate (Kdo), an essential component of lipopolysaccharide, the lipopolysaccharide found in the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria.

Purification and characterization of glucose-6-phosphate isomerase from Bacillus stearothermophilus

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1971
Abstract Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (EC 5.3.1.9) has been purified from Bacillus stearothermophilus to a state in which it is homogeneous, both ultracentrifugally and electrophoretically. The sedimentation coefficient ( s 20, w ) and molecular weight of the enzyme are 7.4S and 172,000. The enzyme exhibits a maximum activity at 70 °.

Effect of ATP on glucose-6-phosphate isomerase from Bacillus caldotenax

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 1982
Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (D-glucose-6-phosphate ketol-isomerase, EC 5.3.1.9) from Bacillus caldotenax exhibits negative cooperativity in enzyme activity. Fructose 1-phosphate, fructose, 1,6-bisphosphate, phosphoenolpyruvate, 6-phosphogluconate, 3-phosphoglycerate, ATP and Pi competitively inhibit the enzyme and abolish negative cooperativity in ...

Combined Erythrocyte Phosphohexose Isomerase and Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency

Human Heredity, 1973
Combined erythrocyte phosphohexose isomerase (PHI) and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency without hemolytic crisis is reported in a Thai family. The propositus (a male), heterozygous for PHI deficiency and hemizygous for G6PD deficiency, has a PHI activity of about half of the normal.

Elevated Serum Glucose-6-Phosphate Isomerase Level in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis

Clinical Laboratory, 2020
The present study aims to analyze the serum level of glucose 6-phosphate isomerase (GPI) in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and evaluate its value in the diagnosis of KOA.One hundred patients with confirmed KOA were selected and 100 healthy people in the same period were selected as the control group.

Low prevalence of antibodies to glucose-6-phosphate isomerase in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and a spectrum of other chronic autoimmune disorders.

Arthritis & Rheumatism, 2003
OBJECTIVE Arthritis in the K/BxN mouse model results from pathogenic immunoglobulins that recognize glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (GPI), a glycolytic enzyme residing in the cytoplasm of all cells.

Cell age dependent decay of human erythrocytes glucose-6-phosphate isomerase

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 1989
Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase shows a biphasic decay pattern during red blood cell aging, which is very fast during the first part of cell's life span in circulation. This decay is not due to accumulation of inactive enzyme molecules, as shown by immunological studies, but is accompanied by the formation of secondary isozymes (i.e., chemically modified

Amoxicillin-Induced Hemolytic Anemia in a Child with Glucose 6-Phosphate Isomerase Deficiency

Annals of Pharmacotherapy, 2010
Objective:To describe the first case of amoxicillin-induced nonimmune hemolytic anemia in a child with glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (GPI) deficiency.Case Summary:A 3-year-old boy with GPI deficiency was admitted for upper respiratory tract infection and fever. The patient was treated with a standard dose of amoxicillin (50 mg/kg/day).

[82] Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase from Bacillus stearothermophilus

1975
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the assay method, purification procedure, and properties of glucose-6-phosphate isomerase from Bacillus stearotherrnophilus . The D-fructose 6-phosphate produced from D-glucose 6-phosphate by the enzyme is colorimetrically determined by the method of Roe.
