In Silico Analysis of Glucose Oxidase H516r and H516d Mutations for an Enzymatic Fuel Cell

open access: yesJurnal Kimia Valensi, 2021
Glucose oxidase (GOx) is an oxido-reductase enzyme that catalyzes glucose into hydrogen peroxide and glucono delta-lactone (GDL). GOx has the potential to be used in the medical field.

Biosensing Membrane Base on Ferulic Acid and Glucose Oxidase for an Amperometric Glucose Biosensor

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
A biosensing membrane base on ferulic acid and glucose oxidase is synthesized onto a carbon paste electrode by electropolymerization via cyclic voltammetry in aqueous media at neutral pH at a single step.

Human peritoneal mesothelial cell death induced by high-glucose hypertonic solution involves Ca2+ and Na+ ions and oxidative stress with the participation of PKC/NOX2 and PI3K/Akt pathways [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Indexación: Web of Science; Scopus.Chronic peritoneal dialysis (PD) therapy is equally efficient as hemodialysis while providing greater patient comfort and mobility. Therefore, PD is the treatment of choice for several types of renal patients. During PD,

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Substrate Inhibition with Glucose Oxidase

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1966
The currently accepted mechanism for the action of glucose oxidase does not allow for substrate inhibition; on the other hand, a very similar flavin enzyme, l-amino acid oxidase, does show pronounced substrate inhibition. Experiments reported here done at very low oxygen levels show that glucose also inhibits the glucose oxidase reaction, and the ...

Enzyme chemical engineering and its application to biosensors : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Chemistry at Massey University, Turitea, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Enzyme chemical engineering is a fast growing area in biotechnology. It has been used to change the stability, solubility, activity and other properties of enzymes for more control over and wider application of enzymes. In this thesis, this technology is

Location of catalase in crystalline peroxisomes of methanol-grown Hansenula polymorpha [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We have studied the intraperoxisomal location of catalase in peroxisomes of methanol-grown Hansenula polymorpha by (immuno)cytochemical means. In completely crystalline peroxisomes, in which the crystalline matrix is composed of octameric alcohol oxidase

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Control of Insulin Secretion by Production of Reactive Oxygen Species: Study Performed in Pancreatic Islets from Fed and 48-Hour Fasted Wistar Rats. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Mitochondria and NADPH oxidase are important sources of reactive oxygen species in particular the superoxide radical (ROS) in pancreatic islets. These molecules derived from molecular oxygen are involved in pancreatic β-cells signaling and control of ...
