Glucose oxidase (beta-D-glucose:oxygen 1-oxidoreductase; EC 1.1.2.3.4) catalyzes the oxidation of beta-D-glucose to gluconic acid, by utilizing molecular oxygen as an electron acceptor with simultaneous production of hydrogen peroxide. Microbial glucose oxidase is currently receiving much attention due to its wide applications in chemical ...

Specificity of glucose oxidase
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1960Abstract The specificity of glucose oxidase for catalyzing the oxidation of β- d -glucose in contrast to α- d -glucose, other hexoses, and pentoses was investigated. The enzyme appears to catalyze the oxidation of the beta form only, and the mutarotation of the alpha form is rate limiting.

Immobilized Glucose Oxidase in the Potentiometric Detection of Glucose
Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 1984Previous work has shown that glucose oxidase can be immobilized on platinum to give an electrode that responds potentiometrically to glucose over the clinically useful range of about 10-250 mg glucose/100 mL. The present studies were carried out with electrochemically pretreated platinum and with gold or porous graphite substituted for the platinum ...

Immunologic Properties of Glucose Oxidase
The Journal of Immunology, 1970Abstract Glucose oxidase, an anzyme obtained from Aspergillus niger, is a potent antigen. Guinea pigs and rabbits immunized with this antigen in complete Freund's adjuvant produced high serum concentrations of precipitating antibody. In addition, heat-inactivated enzyme and apoenzyme can be used to detect cellular immunity in the guinea ...

Inkjet delivery of glucose oxidase
Chemical Communications, 2010The activity of glucose oxidase is reduced by inkjet printing and is a function of the printing conditions. Standard characterisation methods show no significant change to enzyme molecular weight, secondary structure and general molecular shape as a function of printing parameters.
