Bioavailabilities of Quercetin-3-Glucoside and Quercetin-4′-Glucoside Do Not Differ in Humans [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Nutrition, 2000
The flavonoid quercetin is an antioxidant which occurs in foods mainly as glycosides. The sugar moiety in quercetin glycosides affects their bioavailability in humans. Quercetin-3-rutinoside is an important form of quercetin in foods, but its bioavailability in humans is only 20% of that of quercetin-4'-glucoside.

Integrated Green Biorefinery for the Production of Anthocyanins, Fermentable Sugars, and High Pure Lignin from Miscanthus × giganteus

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Integrated production of pigments, fermentation sugars, and pure lignin has been investigated for the creation of profitable biorefinery developments. Choline chloride‐based natural deep eutectic solvents possess unique solvent capabilities to interact with plant cell wall components to disintegrate lignin‐carbohydrate complex.

Antioxidant Activity of Quercetin and Its Glucosides from Propolis: A Theoretical Study

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Among the multiple components of propolis, flavonoids contribute greatly to the antioxidant activities of propolis. Flavonoids mainly exist in the form of sugar-conjugated derivatives.

Fractionation, antioxidant and inhibitory activity of Thai mango seed kernel extracts

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2018
Mango seed kernel extracts (MSKE) from Kaew and Choke-Anan mango cultivars were fractionated using Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. Antioxidant activity and the inhibitory effects on tyrosinase, 5-lipoxygenase, hyaluronidase and α-glucosidase of ...

The biosynthetic gene cluster for the cyanogenic glucoside dhurrin in Sorghum bicolor contains its co-expressed vacuolar MATE transporter

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
Genomic gene clusters for the biosynthesis of chemical defence compounds are increasingly identified in plant genomes. We previously reported the independent evolution of biosynthetic gene clusters for cyanogenic glucoside biosynthesis in three plant ...

4,6‐O‐Phenylboronic Ester Protection for 1,2‐cis‐α‐Selective Glucosylation

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The 4,6‐O‐phenylboronic ester protection for 1,2‐cis‐α‐selective glucosylation, previously reported by the Crich group, was revisited and the stereodirecting effect of the cyclic protecting group was unveiled. 4,6‐O‐Phenylboronic ester‐protected glucosyl and 2‐azido‐2‐deoxyglucosyl donors exhibited higher α‐selectivity of the glucosylation than the ...
