FLEXURAL BEHAVIOUR OF GLULAM BEAMS REINFORCED WITH CFRP RODS

2004
Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites have been largely used in combination with masonry and concrete structural elements in the last decade. Recent applications showed that new advantages may be achieved also in the field of timber structures, even if at the moment a large use of steel elements is made.

Stresses in pitch-cambered glulam beams

2011
The stress distribution near the centerline apex of pitch-cambered glulam beams is analysed. The analysis is done with an orthotropic trapezoidal finite element utilizing the stiffness approach. The element is tested with various grid sizes against known solutions and shown to give an overall accuracy to within five percent.

Strengthening the Timber Glulam Beams with FRP Plates

2002
This article presents the results of the lab tests and numerical analyses done on the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Zagreb. The lab tests were done on real specimens of glulam timber beams of 3.9 m span. Tested were beams with stright and with radial arched intrados, and with double-pitched extrados.

Reliability of glulam beams exposed to fire

2012
This paper presents reliability analysis of a glulam load-bearing beam in a fire. Global fire safety concept of timber structure analysis is presented according to the recommendations from Eurocodes. Special attention was given to natural fire design with two different methods of parametric exposure which are given in Eurocode 1995-1-2.

Testing the timber glulam beams strengthened with CFRP plates

2002
The paper work presents the tests of timber glulam beams strengthened with CFRP plates (laminates). The tests have been carried out at the Institute of Technical Mechanics of the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Civil Engineering on laboratory samples of 390 cm span.

Duration of load effect on curved glulam beams

1998
This research related to the duration of load effect on curved glulam is a part of an EC-AIR project carried out at VTT in co-operation with four other EU member countries. The project includes the long term loading of 32 curved beams, as well as equivalent short term reference tests of 32 beams.
