Evolution of lysine and arginine biosynthesis revealed by substrate specificity of lysine biosynthetic enzymes in Thermus thermophilus

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Two enzymes from the Thermus thermophilus lysine biosynthetic pathway, LysZ and LysY, unexpectedly exhibit substrate promiscuity. They are able to recognize the LysW intermediates utilized by the ArgW‐mediated arginine route, even though the bacterium already possesses the canonical arginine biosynthetic pathway.

Identification and Characterization of Three Novel Biomarkers for Mixed/Cholestatic Drug‐Induced Liver Injury

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Three metabolites, pyroglutamylglycine (pyroGluGly), phenylalanine (Phe), and phenylalanyltryptophan (PheTrp), were identified as candidate DILI biomarkers. The serum concentrations of pyroGluGly, Phe, and PheTrp demonstrated a high differentiating ability in patients with mixed and cholestatic DILI compared with those in patients who recovered from ...

The Subgingival Host–Microbial Landscape in Mothers With Periodontitis and Their At‐Risk Offspring

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Periodontology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate the subgingival proteome and microbiome of mothers with periodontitis and their offspring, thereby assessing signatures of periodontal diseases. Methods Forty participants in four groups were included: mothers with periodontitis and their offspring, as well as periodontally healthy mothers and their offspring.

Differences in Plasma Exposure of Cannabidiol and Cannabidiolic Acid Following Oral Administration to Horses

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT There has been a growing interest in the use of cannabinoids in horses in recent years. Several studies have reported on the pharmacokinetics of cannabidiol (CBD) in horses. However, cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) has received less attention, despite limited evidence suggesting clinically beneficial effects in other species.
