LC-MS proteomics analysis of the iInsulin/IGF-1-deficient Caenorhabditis elegans daf-2(e1370) mutant reveals extensive restructuring of intermediary metabolism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The insulin/IGF-1 receptor is a major known determinant of dauer formation, stress resistance, longevity, and metabolism in Caenorhabditis elegans. In the past, whole-genome transcript profiling was used extensively to study differential gene expression ...

Development of Itaconate Polymers Microparticles for Intracellular Regulation of Pro‐Inflammatory Macrophage Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops itaconate‐based polymer microparticles (IA‐MPs) for macrophage‐targeted intracellular delivery, overcoming the limitations of traditional itaconate administration. IA‐MPs achieve controlled release through phagocytosis, reducing pro‐inflammatory cytokine expression and reprogramming macrophage metabolism toward glycolysis.

GC-MS Profile of Diodella sarmentosa (SW) Bacigalupo El Cabral ex Borhidi Ethanol Leaf Extract and its Total Dehydrogenase Inhibitory Potential [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Phytochemical composition of ethanol leaf extract of Diodella sarmentosa was profiled with GC-MS and the inhibitory property of the extract against total microbial dehydrogenases were assessed. The major constituents of the extract were squalene (29.50%), Phytol (24.68%), phenol, 3-pentadecyl- (18.58%), 1-Butanol, 3-methyl- (9.09%) and n-Hexadecanoic ...

Modulation of synaptic plasticity by glutamatergic gliotransmission: A modeling study [PDF]

open access: yesNeural Plasticity, volume 2016 (2016), Article ID 7607924, 2016
Glutamatergic gliotransmission, that is the release of glutamate from perisynaptic astrocyte processes in an activity-dependent manner, has emerged as a potentially crucial signaling pathway for regulation of synaptic plasticity, yet its modes of expression and function in vivo remain unclear.

Intriguing Role of Proline in Redox Potential Conferring High Temperature Stress Tolerance

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Proline is a proteinogenic amino acid synthesized from glutamate and ornithine. Pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase and pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase are the two key enzymes involved in proline synthesis from glutamate.

State‐of‐the‐Art, Insights, and Perspectives for MOFs‐Nanocomposites and MOF‐Derived (Nano)Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Different approaches to MOF‐NP composite formation, such as ship‐in‐a‐bottle, bottle‐around‐the‐ship and in situ one‐step synthesis, are used. Owing to synergistic effects, the advantageous features of the components of the composites are beneficially combined, and their individual drawbacks are mitigated.

Energy metabolism and glutamate-glutamine cycle in the brain: a stoichiometric modeling perspective [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Systems Biology 7:103 (2013), 2013
The energetics of cerebral activity critically relies on the functional and metabolic interactions between neurons and astrocytes. Important open questions include the relation between neuronal versus astrocytic energy demand, glucose uptake and intercellular lactate transfer, as well as their dependence on the level of activity.

Glutamate and glutamine metabolism in carrot cell culture [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The objective of the work described in this thesis was to investigate the metabolism of glutamine and glutamate in carrot cell suspension cultures and in particular to focus on the role of the enzyme glutamate dehydrogenase in plant nitrogen metabolism ...
